Security Industry Association (SIA) member Dahua Technology is a global provider of total security solutions. Headquartered in Hangzhou, China, Dahua has 54 subsidiaries and representative offices globally, including its North America headquarters in Irvine, California.
SIA spoke with Tim Shen, director of marketing at Dahua Technology USA , about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.
SIA: Tell us the story of your company.
Tim Shen: Dahua Technology has always strived to bring high-value, total security solutions to the global market. Founded in 2001 by an enthusiastic business entrepreneur, Mr. Fu Liquan, who sold almost everything he had to start his business, Dahua began as a small DVR company with a focus on bringing innovation to the industry. Within two years, the company had already begun to expand to other overseas markets, and Dahua became publicly traded in 2008. Putting focus on research and development, Dahua has displayed industry leadership not only as a manufacturer, but also as an innovator. Dahua now manufactures the world’s second-largest market share of video surveillance equipment, according to a 2018 IHS report.
What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?
TS: Dahua offers a wide range of security solutions within the video surveillance space. By manufacturing everything from surveillance cameras and recorders to monitors, access control and more, Dahua is able to provide comprehensive end-to end solutions. These solutions can go beyond basic equipment, with integrated technology from HD analog systems (HDCVI) to enhanced power over ethernet (ePoE) to artificial intelligence-enabled devices. Dahua also provides specialized solutions based on deployments, with end-to-end product offerings for small businesses, schools, hotels, casinos, mobile and many others.
What’s something we might not know about your company – or something new you’re doing in security?
TS: Driving innovations has always been one of the most important pillars of Dahua’s business. Many people may not realize that we hold almost 600 patents and are continually working to provide creative solutions that exceed expectations and solve the real-world challenges our customers face.
SIA: What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership?
TS: SIA allows us to work alongside other security industry leaders and exchange ideas on the future of the market. Joining the discussion and getting to network with fellow industry veterans are truly what we look forward to.
