Mark Eklund: Xandar Kardian has spent the past decade innovating within the people counting and presence detection segments. This is especially important to security company leadership within commercial office space, health care, retail, automotive and many other industries. Our technology, 100% private, identifies presence through micro and macro body movements such as heartbeats and breathing to provide unparalleled accuracy. In fact, we are the first and only commercially available Food and Drug Administration 510(k) cleared radar-based resting heart rate and respiration rate health monitoring system. Our novel technology approach with ultra wide-band radar has resulted in dozens of patents with more in pending status. Global deployments provide additional proof we are the best in our field.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

ME: We provide a presence detection and people counting platform which solves a variety of security challenges. Our 100% private sensors can be deployed in sensitive areas such as bathrooms, locker rooms, fitting areas and other spaces where cameras are not permitted. We’ve had recent requests from security agencies who protect ATM locations, vaults, museums, assisted living, corrections industry and more. Our technology has the ability to identify where people remain during emergency situations since smoke, fire, humidity, light nor other environmental factors do not disrupt our solution.

What is something we might not know about your company – or something new you are doing in security?

ME: Our product solution set is completely new to the security industry. We close blind spots and loopholes which other previous “solutions” could not solve due to security flaws or privacy concerns.  Our ability to accurately detect presence through identifying micro motions as small as heartbeats and breathing provides security companies new levels of business intelligence. We have found creative problem-solving conversations with industry leaders expand the security role we can play on a daily basis.

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

ME: Our current goal is to bring security industry awareness to the capabilities of our technology. We partner with security industry leaders to solve problems better than previous solutions as well as solve vexing challenges which companies were left without the right tools.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?

ME: Privacy is a driving concern for all industries, and this is especially true for the security industry.  Our radar technology is 100% private, which means security companies can overcome legal and other privacy obstacles, which prevented organizations from resolving well-known long-term problems.
