Rep. Peter King to be Honored with Morrone Award at 2012 SIA Security Week Gala

Silver Spring, MD – The Security Industry Association (SIA) announced today that Rep. Peter King (R-NY), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, will be honored with the Fred V. Morrone 9/11 Memorial Award at the SIA Security Week Gala on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, New York, NY.
The award, which is presented by InterPortPolice – International Association of Airport and Seaport Police (IAASP), recognizes those who contribute domestically and internationally to the fight against terrorism and are working to make the world a safer place. Former recipients include New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Department of Homeland Security Undersecretary Asa Hutchinson, White House Homeland Security Advisor Francis Townsend, U.S. Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Thad Allen and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.
"Representative King understands the requirements to protect our national infrastructure and provides a course of assurance to maintain a strong security preparedness," said Port of Los Angeles Police Chief Ronald J. Boyd, the president of IAASP. "Terrorism and disaster have no boundaries. [Rep. King] has forged programs that assist us here in the U.S. and around the globe setting a standard as we move forward in the years to come."

The SIA Security Week Gala is an elegant event held annually to honor the achievements and contributions of security industry leaders. Bill Bozeman, President and CEO of PSA Security Network, will receive the 2012 George R. Lippert Memorial Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to SIA and to the security industry. Cygnus Business Media, Publisher of Security Technology Executivemagazine, will also present the Security Innovation Awards at the event.
