SIA Names James Marcella of Axis Communications as New Education Chair

ISC West 2016 education conference to begin Tuesday, April 5, in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NEV. — The Security Industry Association (SIA) has appointed James Marcella, director of technical services forAxis Communications Inc., as the new chair of its Education and Training Committee.

In this new role, Mr. Marcella will advise and guide SIA’s education and training offerings for security professionals, shaping programs such as SIA Education@ISC. The latest edition of SIA Education@ISC launches this week at ISC West 2016. Mr. Marcella is the director of technical services for Axis Communications. In this role, Mr. Marcella oversees technical support and industry associations for North American operations.

Mr. Marcella joined Axis in 1996 as a business development manager. In this position, he managed the company’s Application Developer Partner program for North America, finding best-of-breed software developers to create applications specifically for Axis’ network video products. He led the development of the Axis Communications Academy which has grown into a global education and certification program. Mr. Marcella later served as the government solutions manager and was responsible for developing the company’s authorized dealer channel and growing business in the federal market.

Mr. Marcella has represented Axis Communications at a number of high-profile events, including ISC West, ASIS, and TechSec. He is an instructor for ASIS’ national education program and a member of the leadership team of the ASIS Physical Security Council. Mr. Marcella often contributes and is quoted in a variety of security and IT industry publications, including SDM, SD&I and WIRED.com.
