Security Industry Association (SIA)

SIA to present award during SIA Honors Night on Nov. 16.

SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Security Industry Association (SIA) will present the Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award to Allegion Senior Vice President and President of the Americas Tim Eckersley at SIA Honors Night on Nov. 16, 2016, at The Current at Chelsea Piers in New York City, the association announced today.

Notably, Eckersley has been a consistent advocate for SIA’s school security initiatives, including the Partner Alliance for Safer Schools (PASS) and the efforts of SIA Government Relations to secure federal legislation and funding for K-12 school security enhancements. He provided support to the National School Boards Association on behalf of SIA, and he moderated a SIA lunch briefing on Capitol Hill on the topic of school security.

“I’m honored not only to receive this award but to be involved in pushing for safer schools with SIA,” Eckersley said. “Our nation’s children are our greatest asset, and it’s our industry’s moral imperative to work together with educators, parents, government and law enforcement officials to protect them with the tools we have available. Thank you to SIA and our other industry partners in supporting this important movement.”

“Tim Eckersley has helped drive SIA’s collaboration with the K-12 school community and promote best practices and government policies that will keep classrooms safe for learning. His passion for working with elected officials and industry organizations toward this end is exemplary. SIA is proud to recognize him with the Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award,” said SIA Chairman Denis Hebert.

Eckersley is a 25-year veteran in high-growth technology industries. In this role, he is responsible for leading Allegion’s Americas-based business, which accounts for $1.5 billion in revenue, and employs more than 5,500 people across Canada, Latin America and the United States. The Americas organization is responsible for several of Allegion’s core brands, including Schlage, LCN and Von Duprin. He previously served as Ingersoll Rand’s President of Commercial Americas. Prior to joining Ingersoll Rand in 2007, Eckersley was Senior Vice President of Customer and Market Operations for Nokia in North America.

The Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award is named in honor of Jay Hauhn. As previous SIA Chairman of the Board, Hauhn demonstrated a steadfast commitment to fostering collaboration among industry trade associations and advancing the interests of their collective memberships and the entire security industry.

The Hauhn Award is presented each year to an individual with a SIA member company who has taken specific action(s) to foster collaboration between SIA and industry/practitioner organizations consistent with SIA’s overall strategic priorities. The award will recognize individual contributions to increasing SIA member value through partnerships. These actions could include activities that lead to the pursuit of common public policy priorities, active involvement in the development of SIA Standards proposals, leveraging SIA Education expertise at partner organization education conferences and jointly-branded online education, and SIA membership growth.
