October 7 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm EDT
On Monday, Oct. 7, the SIA National Capital Region Security Forum (NCRSF) will host its 11th annual charity golf tournament in support of the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Center for Brain Injury Recovery. Proceeds from the annual golf outing will benefit the work of the Kennedy Krieger Institute to support traumatic brain injury research and care for children and adolescents and improve the lives of those affected.
The SIA NCRSF is a community of security professionals and those associated with the industry who connect monthly to network and exchange ideas. We are committed to the shared mission of making the world a safer place through collaboration and integration of ideas that empower the industry to meet the security needs of today and beyond.

The Story Behind the Fundraiser
In 2007, longtime SIA NCRSF member David Sawczuk’s son Benjamin – who was eight years old at the time – was struck by a car while riding his bicycle alongside a road. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and was in a coma for 23 days before undergoing months of extensive rehab therapy with the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s pediatric brain injury program and making a healthy recovery. After completing inpatient rehabilitation at Kennedy Krieger, Ben attended the institute’s Specialized Transition Program, a neurorehabilitation day hospital, for seven months. Ben went on to graduate from high school, then college—exceeding all expectations and prognoses. To date, the SIA NCRSF charity golf tournament has raised over $500,000 in donations toward the center’s brain injury research, patient transition efforts from hospital to home and urgently needed wheelchairs.
