The Security Industry: Where Are We Headed
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The Security Industry Association (SIA) has assembled a panel of leading industry thought-leaders to discuss the state of the rapidly-changing security industry, including new trends, new technology, and improving capabilities. The discussion, titled The State of the Industry: Where Are We Headed? is part of the ISC West Conference taking place in Las Vegas March 27-30, 2012.
Mike Faddis, Group Program Manager at Microsoft Global Security, will lead the expert panel discussion on major shifts and IT trends as the security industry evolves to the cloud. Other panelists include: Jason Bohrer, Senior Vice President of Managed Services at HID Global; Francis D’Addario, CPP, CFE, Emeritus Faculty Leader of the Security Executive Council; Bill Taylor, Vice Chairman of SIA; and Gary Wong, Senior Research Analyst at IMS Research. They will discuss the changing security landscape in which we do business, including emergent new functions of security, “consumerization,” and what the explosion of “as a service” for the security industry will mean for standards and interoperability.
“Market optimism is growing, signaling the beginning of new trends, changes in the industry and expansion into other activities in 2012,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “A complex marketplace is evolving in which manufacturers and service organizations have opportunities to maximize returns by better understanding and influencing end-user purchasing strategies. We look forward to an interesting discussion.”
The discussion will take place on Wednesday, March 28 from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the Sands Expo and Convention Center. The session is part of the ISC West Signature Series, three plenary discussions that explore key industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices. These, along with the rest of the ISC Premier Education Series, were developed by industry experts on the ISC Education Advisory Board.
The other two Signature Series Sessions are the SIA New Product Showcase Winners’ Forum, which will take place on Thursday, March 29 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.; and The Third Revolution in Mobile Services: Near Field Communication, which will be held March 29 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Signature Series sessions are open to all expo and conference badge holders at no cost. Pre-registration is not required.
