Helping Hurricane Irma Victims

Security Industry Association (SIA)

Colleagues,

In a short two weeks, we have seen two massive hurricanes strike the United States. A short time ago, we lamented the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana, and now Hurricane Irma has left a path of destruction through Florida, the US Virgin Islands, and surrounding areas.

To again assist with the safety and well-being of the folks suffering from this disaster, the Security Industry Association (SIA) is donating another $5,000 to the American Red Cross for use in recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. If you or your company would like to join SIA in making a donation, you can visit the American Red Cross website for Irma donations at https://www.redcross.org/donate/hurricane-irma-donations. Make a fast personal donation of $10 by texting the word IRMA to 90999. Every little bit helps!

We know that a lot of security companies have made their own charitable efforts, and we invite you to share stories of how you and your company are making a difference. Send a message to SIA Communications Manager Mickey McCarter at mmccarter@securityindustry.org, and we will share your efforts on the SIA Blog.

Our thoughts remain with our friends in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and beyond as you continue to deal with the floods, infrastructure damages and power outages that persist in the aftermath of these storms. Stay safe!

With respect,

Denis Hebert
