SIA New Member Profile: York Electronic Systems, Inc.

New Security Industry Association (SIA) member York Electronic Systems, Inc., is a Native American woman-owned company that provides design, engineering, consulting, construction, installation and service for building technology solutions, including safety, security, communications and audio-visual systems. The company is headquartered in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and provides services in Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, as well as through its partner network throughout North America.

SIA spoke with Jennifer Jezek, president and CEO at York Electronic Systems, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.

JJ: In 1984, when my parents – husband-and-wife team Steve and Judi York – started their business, they really wanted a name that conveyed something special. After brainstorming, they knew they needed to represent “a positive approach to professional service. What is more positive than YES?” says retired CEO Steve York. From that moment, York Electronic Systems (YES) was born.

YES has emerged as one of the top systems integration firms in the Southwest and is a Native American/woman-owned company with me now at the helm. YES specializes in design, management and maintenance of fire, life safety, security, communications and audio-visual systems for health care, education, government, corporate and hospitality industries. We make buildings safe and smart!

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

JJ: A key differentiator is providing comprehensive services. Customers are looking for a single point of contact for all their safety, security and communications needs. This turnkey approach allows YES to comprehensively evaluate clients’ business initiatives and provide solutions that maintain compliance standards and are sustainable while maximizing return on investment. 

What is something we might not know about your company – or something new you are doing in security?

JJ: We are a design firm as well as a practitioner, which makes us uniquely positioned to apply real-world experiences to design. 

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

JJ: Innovate. Earn. Protect. York Electronic Systems’ purpose is to bring innovative communication technologies for the advancement of life safety, productivity and quality of life. Our goal is to earn customer loyalty through honesty, integrity, innovation and our commitment to excellence. Our responsibility is to save lives and protect property.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

JJ: SIA provides extensive resources including training, best practices, industry studies, professional development, workforce development and events. Being a member of an association that is so well respected and has such comprehensive resources is invaluable to our business. We have found a way to utilize SIA resources in many facets of our business already! As we grow and get more involved, we hope to develop new relationships as well.
