SIA Member Profile: Onetel Cherie Hibler Mark Massey

New Security Industry Association (SIA) member Onetel Security provides comprehensive and tailored solutions in telecommunications, data management, IT infrastructure and cybersecurity. The company is headquartered in North Salt Lake, Utah, and supports security organizations throughout the United States and Canada.

SIA spoke with Onetel Security’s president, Cherie Hibler, and founder and CEO, Mark Massey, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.

Mark Massey founded Onetel Security with a simple goal: to help security organizations build communications infrastructure they can trust. As security organizations became increasingly dependent on always-on connectivity, he recognized that the industry needed more than a telecom provider—it needed a trusted partner that could simplify increasingly complex communications environments while leveraging strategic relationships to design resilient solutions backed by ongoing support. That philosophy continues to guide our approach today as we help security organizations build, manage and evolve the communications infrastructure their operations depend on.

Over the years, we’ve evolved from telecommunications into a communications infrastructure partner. Today, we work alongside security organizations to design, implement and manage resilient communications solutions that keep their operations running. Our focus has always been on building long-term relationships, solving problems and helping our customers stay ahead as technology continues to evolve.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

We specialize in designing and managing resilient communications infrastructure for the security industry. Our services include carrier procurement and management, redundant network architecture, SD-WAN, internet connectivity, voice solutions, SIP services, network diversity planning and comprehensive project and account management. From solution design through implementation and ongoing support, we help security organizations build and maintain communications infrastructure that is resilient, scalable, and aligned with their operational goals.

What sets Onetel Security apart is our approach to partnership. We work with a carefully selected network of strategic carriers and technology providers to design solutions that align with each security organization’s operational needs, resiliency goals and long-term growth plans. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution, we leverage those relationships to build the right solution for every environment.

Our commitment doesn’t end once a service is installed. We become an ongoing extension of security organization’s teams, serving as their single point of contact and trusted advocate throughout the life of their solution. We coordinate with carriers and technology partners, manage service requests and upgrades, oversee projects and help resolve issues quickly, eliminating the frustration of navigating multiple providers. By acting as the liaison between security organizations and our strategic partners, we simplify communication, provide continuity and ensure security organizations always have a knowledgeable team they can rely on.

What is something we might not know about your company—or something new you are doing in security?

One area we’re especially excited about is helping security organizations modernize aging communications infrastructure without disrupting day-to-day operations. As legacy technologies continue reaching end of life, we’re helping security organizations develop practical migration strategies that reduce risk, maintain operational continuity and prepare for future growth.

One example is our solution built around Patton Channel Banks that help security organizations replace legacy equipment while maintaining operational continuity. These solutions allow customers to extend the life of critical systems, reduce risk and transition to modern infrastructure on their own timeline rather than being forced into reactive upgrades.

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

Our vision is to set the standard as the most trusted communications infrastructure partner for the security industry by delivering resilient, innovative solutions backed by exceptional service and long-term customer relationships. As technology continues to evolve, we are committed to helping security organizations confidently modernize their communications infrastructure while maintaining the reliability and performance their operations depend on.

Our goal is to continue raising the standard for customer experience and support within the industry. By working with our customers, strategic partners and industry organizations, we strive to drive innovation, strengthen operational resilience and help shape the future of secure, dependable communications for security organizations and the security community as a whole.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?

The security industry is in the middle of a major technology transition. Legacy communications platforms are reaching end of life while cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, automation and modern networking continue to mature. Organizations that embrace these changes thoughtfully have an opportunity to improve resilience, simplify operations and better serve their customers.

We also see tremendous opportunity in helping security organizations strengthen redundancy and business continuity. As security organizations become increasingly dependent on uninterrupted connectivity, investing in resilient communications infrastructure has become a strategic advantage rather than simply an IT project.

We also believe there is a significant opportunity for security organizations to rethink how they manage carrier relationships. By partnering with a trusted advisor who can coordinate multiple providers, simplify support and proactively manage communications infrastructure, security organizations can reduce operational complexity while improving resilience.

What are your predictions for the security industry in the short and long term?

In the near term, we expect continued investment in network modernization, cloud adoption and replacing legacy infrastructure that is becoming increasingly difficult to support. Security organizations will continue looking for ways to improve operational resilience while managing costs.

Long-term, communications infrastructure will become even more integrated with intelligent monitoring platforms and automation. As systems become more connected, designing resilient, diverse networks will become even more critical. Reliability has always mattered in our industry, but it will become even more important as expectations for uptime continue to grow.

What are the biggest challenges facing your company and/or others in the security industry?

One of the biggest challenges is balancing innovation with reliability. New technologies offer tremendous opportunities, but security organizations cannot afford unnecessary risk or downtime while adopting them.

Another ongoing challenge is the complexity of carrier ecosystems and legacy infrastructure. Many security organizations are managing multiple providers, aging technologies and evolving customer expectations simultaneously. Helping customers simplify that complexity while maintaining resilient communications is where we believe we provide the greatest value.

What do you most enjoy about working at your company—and in the security industry?

What we enjoy most is building lasting relationships. The security industry is built on trust, collaboration and a shared commitment to protecting people and property, and we’ve had the opportunity to work with many incredible customers, partners and industry leaders over the years.

At Onetel Security, we also enjoy seeing the impact our team has on security organization’s operations. Knowing that the infrastructure we help design and support plays a role in keeping monitoring centers connected—and ultimately helping protect lives and property—is incredibly rewarding.
