SIA New Member Profile: PRIM’X

New Security Industry Association (SIA) member PRIM’X is a cybersecurity software vendor that offers encryption software for public and private organizations. The company is headquartered in Lyon, France, with an international presence through customer, partners and strategic business relationships across multiple regions, including Latin America, Spain and Vietnam.

SIA spoke with Ricardo González, senior business development manager at PRIM’X, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.

Ricardo González: PRIM’X is a French cybersecurity software vendor with more than 20 years of experience dedicated to one critical mission: protecting the confidentiality of sensitive information through advanced encryption technologies. From the beginning, the company has focused on making encryption a practical, scalable and business-ready capability for organizations that need to protect critical data against loss, theft, disclosure, espionage or unauthorized access.

Over the years, PRIM’X has built strong recognition in the public and private sectors by developing encryption solutions designed for real operational environments. Our story is not only about technology—it is also about trust, resilience and helping organizations maintain control of their most valuable asset: their information.

While our roots are European, our vision and market engagement are global, particularly as organizations around the world face increasingly complex challenges around data confidentiality, digital sovereignty and regulatory compliance. In Latin America, we are actively strengthening our presence and market positioning by working closely with enterprises, public institutions, partners and cybersecurity ecosystems. Our objective is to bring proven European encryption expertise to organizations that require robust, reliable and operationally viable data protection strategies.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

RG: PRIM’X develops corporate encryption software designed to protect sensitive information across multiple environments: endpoints, files and folders, removable media, email, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, cloud collaboration spaces and secure file exchanges. Our portfolio includes solutions for full disk encryption, file and folder encryption, encrypted containers, secure email attachments, information partitioning and protection of confidential data in collaborative platforms.

What makes PRIM’X unique is our deep specialization. We are not a generalist cybersecurity vendor adding encryption as one feature among many; encryption is our core expertise. Our solutions are designed to help organizations apply confidentiality by design, manage the “need-to-know” principle and protect data even when it moves outside traditional security perimeters. In a world where information is constantly shared, stored and accessed from multiple environments, PRIM’X helps make encryption operational, transparent and aligned with business reality.

What is something we might not know about your company—or something new you are doing in security?

RG: One thing that makes PRIM’X particularly relevant today is our focus on making encryption usable at scale. Many organizations understand the importance of encryption, but they often struggle to implement it in a way that is simple for users, manageable for IT teams and aligned with business workflows. PRIM’X addresses that challenge by combining strong encryption with operational flexibility.

We are also seeing growing demand for encryption applied to modern collaboration environments, including cloud platforms, Microsoft 365, SharePoint and secure data exchange with third parties. This is an important evolution: encryption is no longer only about protecting a laptop or a file server; it is about protecting information throughout its full lifecycle, wherever it is created, shared, stored or consumed.

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

RG: Our vision is to make encryption a natural, strategic and accessible pillar of enterprise security, data protection and compliance. We believe that organizations should not have to choose between productivity, confidentiality and regulatory alignment. Security must enable business, support governance requirements and help organizations operate with greater confidence, not slow them down.

Our goal is to help the industry move from reactive protection to proactive data confidentiality and compliance-driven security management. As cyber threats, insider risks, regulatory pressures and data exposure scenarios continue to grow, encryption must become a standard layer of trust across digital operations. PRIM’X wants to contribute to that transformation by delivering technologies that are robust, proven and practical for real organizations, while helping them strengthen confidentiality, operational resilience and compliance readiness.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?

RG: One of the biggest opportunities is the shift from perimeter-based security to data-centric security. Organizations can no longer assume that everything important remains inside a controlled network. Data moves across endpoints, cloud platforms, partners, suppliers, mobile users and hybrid work environments—this creates a major opportunity for solutions that protect the information itself, regardless of where it travels.

Another important opportunity is the growing executive awareness around confidentiality, digital sovereignty and regulatory exposure. Cybersecurity is no longer only a technical conversation—it is now a business continuity, governance and risk management conversation—which creates space for vendors that can translate strong technical capabilities into clear business value.

What are your predictions for the security industry in the short and long term?

RG: In the short term, we expect organizations to increase investment in technologies that reduce the impact of data loss, ransomware, insider threats and unauthorized disclosure. Identity, endpoint security, cloud security and data protection will continue to converge, but the ability to protect information at the file and data level will become increasingly important.

In the long term, we believe encryption will become even more embedded into business processes, platforms and digital ecosystems. As artificial intelligence, cloud adoption and data exchange accelerate, organizations will need stronger mechanisms to ensure that sensitive information remains protected, controlled and accessible only to authorized users. The future of cybersecurity will be increasingly data-centric, and encryption will play a fundamental role in that evolution.

What are the biggest challenges facing your company and/or others in the security industry?

RG: One of the biggest challenges is helping organizations move beyond the perception that encryption is complex, restrictive or difficult to manage. The industry must continue proving that strong security can coexist with usability, productivity and business agility.

Another challenge is education. Many organizations invest heavily in detection and response, but they sometimes underestimate the importance of protecting the data itself. As manufacturers and cybersecurity leaders, we have a responsibility to help customers understand that confidentiality is not a secondary layer—it is a critical foundation for resilience, compliance and trust.

What do you most enjoy about working at your company—and in the security industry?

RG: What I enjoy most about being at PRIM’X is representing a company with a clear purpose and a highly specialized value proposition. In cybersecurity, many conversations are broad and complex, but PRIM’X brings focus: we help organizations protect the confidentiality of their information through proven encryption technologies.

I also enjoy the consultative nature of this industry. Every organization has different risks, operational models and business priorities. Being able to engage with executives, IT teams, security leaders and partners to build the right protection strategy is both challenging and highly rewarding.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company, and what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

RG: For PRIM’X, SIA represents an important opportunity to connect with a broader security ecosystem, exchange perspectives with industry leaders and contribute to conversations around the future of protection, resilience and trust. As the security industry continues to evolve, collaboration between manufacturers, integrators, technology providers and decision-makers becomes increasingly valuable.

Through our membership, we hope to strengthen our visibility, build meaningful relationships and identify opportunities where encryption and data confidentiality can complement broader security strategies. We also see SIA as a platform to share our expertise, learn from the market and participate in initiatives that help elevate the industry as a whole.

How does your organization engage with SIA? What are your plans for involvement in the next year?

RG: Our immediate goal is to actively engage with the SIA community by participating in events, accessing member resources and connecting with organizations that are shaping the future of the security industry. We see this as a valuable space to exchange knowledge, identify trends and explore collaboration opportunities.

Over the next year, we would like to increase PRIM’X’s participation in industry discussions related to cybersecurity, data protection, encryption, critical information security and secure digital transformation. Our objective is not only to present our solutions, but also to contribute meaningful insights around how organizations can better protect sensitive information in an increasingly connected world.
