Letter of Support for Secure Airport Public Spaces Act

On May 16, 2018, the Security Industry Association (SIA) expressed strong support for the Secure Airport Public Spaces Act, which will help address critical security needs at our nation’s airports.

In a letter to Sen. Gary Peters and Sen. Cory Gardner, SIA CEO Don Erickson praised the bill, which allows the use of Airport Improvement Program grant funds for installation of modern video surveillance systems in public, non-screened areas such as baggage claims or pickup and dropoff areas. The bill also encourages airports to use infrastructure improvement revenue collected through local passenger facility charges to address airport security needs.
