Geoff Kohl is the senior director of marketing for the Security Industry Association (SIA). As senior director of marketing, Kohl is responsible for delivering strategic marketing direction to expand the awareness of SIA and its product and service offerings.
Kohl entered the security industry in 2004 to launch SecurityInfoWatch.com as its founding editor-in-chief and associate publisher and went on to serve as editorial director of Cygnus Security Group, the then publisher of SecurityInfoWatch.com, Security Dealer & Integrator magazine and Security Technology Executive magazine. In 2011 he founded the Secured Cities conference to provide a top-tier educational program and networking event for professionals involved in all facets of urban security—from law enforcement to education and healthcare, with a strong focus on cities that are applying technology solutions to security and policing challenges.
Prior to joining SIA in 2016, Kohl served as the chief travel editor for Morris Media Network’s Where magazine brand. He provided content strategy and led a global editorial team that was focused on growing the brand’s consumer audience, digital reach and overall awareness in the competitive travel media space by producing and promoting highly engaging travel content.
He holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Mississippi (Oxford, MS) in addition to Bachelor’s degrees in English and Philosophy from the University of the South (Sewanee, TN).
