SIA Announces 9th Annual “Ride for Education” at ISC West 2012

Security Industry Association (SIA)

Providing Scholarships for First Responders

Alexandria, VA — The Security Industry Association’s (SIA) 9thannual Ride for Education is scheduled for Saturday, March 31, 2012. The event takes place the day after the annual ISC West show, which will be held March 27-30 at the Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The event raises money for the SIA Education Scholarship Fund, which provides grants to the first responder community for job-related education. The fund offers up to $500 per request to appropriate and deserving agency staffers and volunteers for educational opportunities they might not otherwise be able to attend because of budget cuts. A heavy emphasis is placed on the impact any such training would have on an agency’s effectiveness in providing critical first responder services in the event of a catastrophe.

“Aside from the good feeling that we are helping the first responder community, this is an ideal post-ISC West stress reliever,” said Jim Gingo of TransTech, one of many sponsors of the event.
“The camaraderie enjoyed by the riders, the natural beauty of the terrain, the excellent SIA sponsored catered lunch in the desert and the fun times that are had during the dinner make for great memories,” added SIA Chairman Jay Hauhn of ADT.

The ride will begin at 9:00 a.m. from Las Vegas Harley-Davidson / Buell. The cost is $45.00 per rider and $35.00 per passenger (does not include $125 motorcycle rental). Sports cars are also welcome and the registration fees are the same — $45.00 per driver and $35.00 per passenger. All registrants will receive a specially designed “SIA Ride for Education 2012” athletic shirt.
Participants in the 2012 Ride for Education should register for the event and then contact Las Vegas Harley-Davidson to reserve a bike. Bike rentals are limited and must be booked well in advance to get the Harley of your choice. To reserve a bike, call 877-571-7174 and ask for the rentals department, or e-mail rentals@lvhd.com. Mention the “SIA Ride for Education” for the $125.00 rate. All bikes are 2012 models.
