SIA New Member Profile: IDTECK Global Inc.

Security Industry Association (SIA)

Not too long ago, IDTECK Global Inc., with U.S. offices in Gardena, California, expanded its footprint in North America. Now, IDTECK Global has extended its influence even further by joining the Security Industry Association (SIA). SIA Update chatted with Frederick R. Trujillo, Sales Manager for the Americas, IDTECK Global, to learn more about his background and the company’s access control solutions.

How did you get into the security industry?

In mid-2007, I was working for an extremely very well-known company worldwide and at the same time going to grad school. I needed a normal Monday to Friday, 9-to-5 job that allowed me to go to school at nights and on weekends. I applied at RF Logics, which was the exclusive distributor for North America for IDTECK Co. Ltd. The position was for sales and customer service that dealt with partners in Latin America. I have been in the security industry ever since.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

The interaction with our valued partners (distributors, integrators, dealers, and installers) is what I enjoy the most. In my 10 years in the security industry specifically in access control, I have gained great knowledge and friendships from all parts of the world. Each day, there is something new to learn in the access control industry. Truly, what I most value and enjoy each day just answer the phone or making a phone call just to catch up with friends and partners.

What’s your company’s biggest challenge right now?

One of our greatest challenges in the past has been penetrating the North American market with IDTECK Access Control Systems. Unfortunately, our former exclusive distributor did not do a very good job of establishing IDTECK’s name. This is why in 2013, IDTECK CEO Grace Kang decided to establish a branch office in the United States rather than assign another exclusive distributor or several distributors.

Since 2013, we have been working toward letting North America know of IDTECK. In doing so, we have brought in outside sales reps that promote IDTECK’s Total Security Solutions throughout the United States. It’s working, and it’s working very well — beyond our expectations. We are seeing major growth since 2013, and we expect further growth to the point that we are now considering the expansion of our North America office to larger facilities for more support sales and technical staff. 2017 will be a great year for IDTECK.

What trends does your company foresee for the security industry in the next year?

We started to see a shift in our industry back in 2015, where once Access Control Boards were the rave, then standalone controllers. Now, it is all about mobility and how simple software can be. Now, our industry is shifting toward mobile apps and cloud-based solutions and the ability to integrate for a One System Solution where customers want everything to be compatible with everyone else’s products.

We know that will not happen—at least not now. Mobile apps for the security industry is huge, and IDTECK is launching a brand-new IP Series line called the XO Series that will have the capability to use a mobile app for Android and iOS called IDTECK Mobile 3S (Safe, Secure & Smart). We plan to unveil this during ISC West 2017.

What does your organization receive from membership in SIA? How do you plan to be active in the association in the near future?

Being part of this unique and elite membership with SIA brings IDTECK additional prestige and most of all exposure in the North American market. We are very much aware of the value of being an SIA member and with this membership comes the responsibility in offering and providing the best in access control solutions for the security industry. It is for this reason that IDTECK has joined SIA and intends to attend summits and trade shows to further involve itself in an industry that changes at a fast-moving pace with high demands. IDTECK is now starting to look at all the different shows in which SIA participates so that they call also be added to IDTECK’s roster for 2017 and beyond.

Will your company participate in an upcoming event with SIA such as ISC West, New Product Showcase or Government Summit? If so, what aspect of the event appeals most to your company?

Yes, you can count on it. IDTECK will be showcasing at ISC West 2017—make sure to visit us at booth 33101. In addition, we will be entering the SIA New Product Showcase with IDTECK’s new XO Series along with its mobile app.

We are very excited about our upcoming trade shows this year. Trade shows give us the opportunity to meet new partners/friends and catch up with value partners and show them what new features and products we must offer. In addition, it also gives IDTECK insight into what our clients need, what are their requirements and what changes should we make to improve relations. Trades shows are a time where we sit face to face with our new and soon-to-be partners and learn from them so that IDTECK can grow.
