In Memoriam: Allen Fritts

Allen Fritts

This week, the security industry mourned the loss of Allen Fritts, who dedicated more than 30 years to the security and fire professions.

Fritts, who spent more than two decades in three operating divisions or Pittway Corp., served as president of Notifier and eventually became president of Honeywell Fire Systems – a role from which he retired in 2013 – was president of the Security Industry Association (SIA) from 2001 to 2003.

“Allen was a man of courage and conviction; he provided great leadership to SIA when we needed it most,” said Les Gold of the SIA Board of Directors. “His expertise in the fire industry was unparalleled.”

Fritts, widely recognized for facilitating industry unity through his work with SIA and involvement with the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association and Automatic Fire Alarm Association, received awards throughout his career, including the honorary deputy chief distinction from the Fire Department of the City of New York, and was inducted into the Security Sales & Integration Hall of Fame in 2009. Fritts received SIA’s George R. Lippert Memorial Award in 2005 for his long-term service to SIA and the security industry, the impact of his efforts and his integrity, leadership and diplomacy in industry dealings.
