In Memoriam: Jack Taylor

Jack Taylor

The security industry recently mourned the loss of Jack Taylor, visionary and founder of Safety Technology International (STI), an early member of the Security Industry Association. Jack, along with his late wife Bernadine, owned STI, which has remained family-owned and operated for almost four decades.

Mr. Taylor, in response to a call from a Detroit, Michigan, school administrator who wanted to stop false fire alarms, used his expertise in security systems to invent the original Stopper® protective cover, in turn beginning the now-worldwide company STI, which has designed over 1,000 products and revolutionized the way establishments around the world manage false fire alarms.

Taylor, an inventor, businessman and family man, leaves behind a global legacy and will be greatly missed. Learn more in STI’s tribute.
