Don’t Miss SIA’s OSDP Boot Camp at ISC East

ISC East 2022 is coming up Nov. 15-17 in New York City, and the Security Industry Association (SIA) and ISC East recently revealed full conference details for the SIA Education@ISC East program, including keynote presentations from top luminaries and over 30 sessions from top industry expert speakers on the most current business trends, technologies and industry developments.

Among the robust lineup of conference sessions is SIA’s Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) Boot Camp on Tuesday, Nov. 15. OSDP is an access control communications standard developed by SIA to improve interoperability among access control and security products and now in wide use by many top product developers. In this daylong, in-depth training led by Rodney Thayer, convergence engineer at Smithee Solutions LLC, and Salvatore (Sal) D’Agostino, CEO of IDmachines, attendees will get the essential information, resources and training needed to design, configure and deploy modern, interoperable, OSDP-compliant access control systems.

“Gaining hands-on experience with this increasingly common technology is of great value to integrators and security practitioners, whether they are new in the business or have been around a long time.”

Rodney Thayer, convergence engineer, Smithee Solutions LLC

SIA OSDP Boot Camp is for anyone interested in implementing OSDP as a protocol and/or seeking to deploy modern access control systems, including installation technicians, corporate or government security practitioners, system architects and engineers and specifying consultants. Attendees will learn how to more effectively do business with sophisticated firms that demand current security technologies, receive the information needed to train teams on OSDP, gain the skills to transition from legacy access control to today’s modern technologies and more.

“OSDP Boot Camps provide background and up-to-date information on the OSDP standard and its benefits and current state of adoption. Each attendee gets to interact with readers and controllers using the standard directly to securely and efficiently design, configure and maintain these critical security and access components. Besides the comprehensive course syllabus, attendees interact with each other and instructors to share knowledge and have the time to investigate areas of concern or interest. At the end, attendees gain knowledge, skills and tools that add immediate and long-term value to their organization, its customer and supply chain by building on the OSDP business cases of security and operational capabilities that come with OSDP as an international standard.”
