New Security Industry Association (SIA) member Quality Low Voltage Systems is a security systems company founded on the idea of customizable security. The company is headquartered in San Jose, California, and serves clients in both northern and southern California while laying the foundation for future expansion throughout the country.

SIA spoke with Katie M. Bonilla, CEO of Quality Low Voltage Systems, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.

Katie Bonilla: Our company was founded in 2008 as a family-owned business with a vision to make a difference in the security industry. It all started with three passionate partners who shared a common goal of providing reliable and advanced security solutions to meet the growing needs of businesses and individuals. With a strong foundation built on trust, integrity and expertise, we ventured into the security industry with a commitment to deliver outstanding service and innovative technologies. Over the years, we have grown and expanded while staying true to our core values, earning a reputation for excellence and becoming a trusted name in the security sector.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings or your company unique?

KB: Our company offers a wide range of solutions and services in the security industry, including cutting-edge surveillance systems, access control technologies, alarm and monitoring services and security consulting. What makes our offerings unique is our commitment to leveraging the latest advancements in technology to develop customized security solutions for our clients. We prioritize proactive threat detection, rapid response capabilities and seamless integration of various security components to provide comprehensive protection. Additionally, our emphasis on the quality of work and exceptional customer support sets us apart in the security industry.

What’s something we might not know about your company – or something new you’re doing in security?

KB: Started in 2008, at Quality Low Voltage Systems we have made a name for ourselves by bringing high quality installation and support services to our clients. Quality Low Voltage Systems is now changing focus to become one of the top full security integrators in the San Francisco Bay Area. We’ve recently transitioned from being primarily subcontracted with other security integrators to taking on the role of security integrators ourselves. With this shift we have a more direct and hands-on approach in meeting the security needs of our clients from sales to service.

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

KB: Our company’s vision is to become a leading force in the security industry by delivering innovative solutions that ensure the safety and protection of people, property and assets. Our goal is to set new standards for security technology and services, providing our clients with state-of-the-art solutions that address evolving security challenges and risks. We aim to be a trusted partner for our clients, offering reliable, efficient and cost-effective security measures that meet their specific needs and exceed their expectations.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?

KB: Facial recognition and threat detection.

What are your predictions for the security industry in the short and long term?

KB: Short term – New technologies will sprout up as startups and established companies battle to find the next technology that will dominate the industry, but the changes will be slow. Robustness and reliability will be key.

Long term – As processing power increases and cloud becomes faster, cheaper and more robust, we will see companies shift to nearly entirely cloud-based setups. Facial and body recognition will be very common along with other badgeless authorization.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

KB: Three important things that SIA offers are the training courses, opportunities to network with other SIA members and SIA support. Combine the first two, and you have an experienced team with a long reach to support our business goals. SIA has a strong support team to help guide and encourage any company for success.

What we would like to get out of our membership is to take full advantage of the training courses. That will be our No. 1 goal.
