SIA New Member Profile: Fortress Perimeter Solutions, Jarrett Adams, VP and GM

New Security Industry Association (SIA) member Fortress Perimeter Solutions offers innovative fencing solutions for residential, industrial, commercial and high-security applications. The company is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and serves customers across the globe.

SIA spoke with Jarrett Adams, vice president and general manager at Fortress Perimeter Solutions, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.

Jarrett Adams: Fortified Brands represents a new vision built on the entrepreneurial foundation that began in 2002 with Fortress and the Sherstad family’s legacy through Woodmark International. What started with a focused offering in railing and fence grew into Fortress Building Products, a company known for expanding into multiple product categories, serving diverse markets and building a strong team around shared core values and a clear sense of purpose.

As a Fortified Brands company, Fortress Perimeter Solutions is part of that evolution. It was created from the belief that perimeter security should do more than define a property line—it should help protect people, assets and operations while still meeting the practical demands of construction, maintenance and design. We brought the same product-first mindset into the security industry by focusing on durable, thoughtfully engineered perimeter solutions for commercial, industrial and high-security applications. As the market has evolved, we have continued to expand our focus to fast-growing sectors like data centers and other mission critical environments, where customers need security solutions that balance performance, constructability and long-term value.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

JA: Our business offers perimeter security and fencing solutions for commercial, industrial and high-security environments. That includes steel and aluminum ornamental fencing, active and passive vehicle barriers and specialized high-security offerings designed to help protect critical assets and sensitive sites. We focus on solutions that are durable, versatile and easier to specify and install than many traditional alternatives, especially for mission critical facilities like data centers where uptime, access control and layered protection matter.

What makes Fortress Perimeter Solutions unique is the combination of product innovation and practical project support. We are not just offering a fence panel—we are helping customers think through performance, aesthetics, constructability and life-cycle value. Our goal is to give customers solutions that meet security needs without forcing tradeoffs in design flexibility, quality or efficiency.

What is something we might not know about your company—or something new you are doing in security?

JA: One thing people may not realize about our company is how much emphasis we place on continual product development and market responsiveness. We pay close attention to where customer needs are evolving—whether that is higher security expectations, faster installation demands or more customized project requirements—and we work to translate those needs into better perimeter solutions.

We are also continuing to strengthen our presence in high-security and commercial applications, including data centers and other environments where owners and specifiers increasingly want solutions that combine strong physical deterrence with clean design and long-term durability. As artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure continue to fuel data center growth, we see increasing demand for perimeter systems that can support mission-critical operations without slowing down project execution.

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

JA: Our vision is to help redefine what customers expect from perimeter security by delivering solutions that are stronger, smarter and more adaptable to the environments they protect. We want to be known as a trusted partner for perimeter systems that not only perform at a high level, but also simplify specification, installation and long-term ownership.

For the security industry more broadly, our goal is to help move the conversation beyond basic perimeter definition toward integrated protection and better project outcomes. That means supporting innovation, encouraging higher standards in durability and performance and helping customers find solutions that fit both today’s needs and tomorrow’s risks.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?

JA: I see major opportunity in the growing focus on perimeter hardening, critical infrastructure protection and earlier security planning in the design process. One of the clearest examples is the data center market, where AI-driven demand is accelerating new construction and putting greater emphasis on securing high-value, always-on facilities from the perimeter inward. More owners are recognizing that perimeter security is not something to treat as an afterthought; it is foundational to how a site functions, how it is protected and how people experience it every day.

There is also strong opportunity in solutions that bridge security and design. Customers increasingly want systems that deter, control and protect without creating an overly industrial look. Companies that can meet that need with proven, scalable products will be well positioned as the market continues to evolve.

What are your predictions for the security industry in the short and long term?

JA: In the short term, I expect continued demand for perimeter solutions that can be deployed efficiently and that address heightened concerns around site access, theft prevention and asset protection. I also expect project teams to place greater value on systems that are easier to specify, easier to install and backed by strong technical support.

Over the longer term, I believe the industry will continue moving toward more specialized, application-driven perimeter solutions, especially in high-security, infrastructure and commercial environments. Customers will increasingly expect perimeter systems to deliver a combination of physical security, durability, design flexibility and life-cycle value rather than excelling in only one category.

What are the biggest challenges facing your company and/or others in the security industry?

JA: One of the biggest challenges facing the industry is balancing rising performance expectations with project realities like budget pressure, compressed schedules and supply chain complexity. Customers want stronger and more customized solutions, but they also need those solutions to be practical to procure, install and maintain.

Another ongoing challenge is helping the market think about perimeter security more strategically. In many projects, perimeter systems are still brought into the conversation too late. The earlier security considerations are integrated into planning and design, the better the outcome tends to be for both protection and overall project execution.

What do you enjoy most about being at your company—and in the security industry?

JA: What I enjoy most is the chance to solve real-world problems in a way that is highly visible and highly practical. Perimeter security sits at the intersection of safety, operations, design and performance, which makes the work meaningful and dynamic. Every project brings a different challenge, and that keeps the work engaging.

I also value being part of an industry that continues to evolve. There is a strong sense of purpose in helping create environments that are more secure, more resilient and better suited to the needs of the people who use them. That combination of innovation and impact is a big part of what makes this industry rewarding.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

JA: What is most important to us about SIA is the opportunity to stay connected to the broader security conversation through a respected industry network. We value access to insights, market perspectives, peer connections and thought leadership that help us better understand where the industry is going and how customer expectations are changing.

From our membership, we hope to deepen relationships across the security ecosystem, contribute to industry dialogue and continue learning from other leaders and innovators in the space. JA: Our organization engages with SIA as a way to stay informed, connected and involved in the issues shaping the future of security. We see value in participating in industry events, following emerging trends and using member resources to strengthen both our market understanding and our internal perspective on where perimeter security is headed.

Over the next year, we hope to expand that involvement by engaging more actively with SIA programs, events and peer connections. We view membership not just as access to information, but as an opportunity to contribute our perspective and learn from others who are working to advance the industry.

We appreciate the opportunity to share more about Fortress Perimeter Solutions.
