United for Privacy Coalition Letter to President Biden

The Security Industry Association (SIA) has joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, TechNet, the Consumer Technology Association and other associations and industry groups in the “United for Privacy” campaign, an effort to bring a unified, cross-industry voice underscoring the urgent need to pass a national privacy law this Congress.

In an April 1, 2022, letter to President Biden, the coalition encouraged the president to designate two hihg-level officials to lead an administration effort to engage with Congress to support the passage of comprehensive federal privacy legislation. The letter recommends a co-leadership approach to ensure that both consumer privacy and cybersecurity concerns are adequately addressed, outlines the need for a federal privacy law and offers the coalition’s support in providing further information and being a resource to the administration on this issue.
