SIA’s Economic Outlook Series presents economic briefings for SIA members and the industry at key in-person events and virtually, which feature nationally recognized economists offering perspectives into key economic trends affecting the security business community.
On Sept. 17, 2024, at 2 p.m. EDT, SIA will welcome U.S Chamber of Commerce Chief Economist Curtis Dubay. Dubay was previously senior economist at the American Bankers Association and worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the Tax Foundation. He has testified before Congress on various occasions and been quoted by media outlets such as Fox Business, CNBC, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post and the New York Times.
Dubay will offer analysis into key areas including current and short-term projected economic conditions, market performance, labor market and consumer spending trends, recent Federal Reserve actions and the impact of notable public policies that may impact economic growth.

ABOUT the Featured Speaker
Curtis Dubay, chief economist in the Economic Policy Division at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, tracks the condition of the economy, analyzes the impact of public policy on economic growth and runs the Chamber’s Chief Economists Committee. The committee consists of chief economists from member businesses. It helps the Chamber formulate economic policies and provides analysis to policymakers in Washington, D.C. Previously, Dubay was senior economist at the American Bankers Association (ABA), where he worked on tax issues and followed the economic trends affecting the banking industry. Prior to ABA, he was a research fellow in tax and economic policy at The Heritage Foundation. There he researched and published on tax and economic policy issues.
Earlier in his career, Dubay worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the firm’s transfer pricing division structuring international transactions, and before that at the Tax Foundation where he authored three widely recognized and cited reports: Tax Freedom Day, State-Local Tax Burdens and The State Business Tax Climate Index.
