Security Industry Association (SIA)

Joint activities may include the establishment of a joint technology interest roadmap, vendor-neutral presentations, information-sharing, and suggestions on education topics.

Silver Spring, Md. — The Security Industry Association (SIA) and the International Security Management Association (ISMA) have adopted a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to promote information sharing between corporate security practitioners and suppliers around security technology information and standards development, SIA announced today.
A primary objective of the agreement is for SIA and ISMA members to share expertise and jointly identify potential solutions to electronic physical security compliance challenges facing large business enterprises.

“As President of ISMA, I am very excited about our partnership with SIA, created with this memorandum of understanding. Technology trends and their effective management will continue to be a priority for CSOs globally. SIA is an organization with core competencies in security technology information and standards development. I believe that the information sharing between ISMA and SIA will enhance both the knowledge that CSOs need in the technology space, as well as provide insight to SIA executives about the strategies and challenges facing CSOs in mitigating risk. I want to personally thank John Stroia, Don Erickson, Jay Hauhn and the SIA Board for their collaboration, leadership and vision in developing this MOU. I believe it will provide significant benefit to members of both organizations,” said John Imhoff, ISMA president.

“SIA is honored to serve as a vendor-neutral technology resource to ISMA members through our Standards Committee activities and education initiatives,” said John Stroia, SIA chairman. “SIA members will benefit from this alliance by improving their understanding of the unique challenges facing chief security officers.  I would like to thank Mike Howard, John Imhoff and the ISMA Board for their leadership in reaching this agreement and for their confidence in working with SIA for the benefit of our collective memberships.”

Activities under the MOU may include the establishment of a joint technology interest roadmap, vendor-neutral presentations presented by SIA to ISMA, information-sharing between the ISMA Resources Committee and the SIA Standards Committee to assist ISMA members in meeting requirements, recommendations from ISMA members for vendor-neutral articles in SIA Technology Insights and suggestions from ISMA members on education topics for the ISC West and ISC East conferences, presented in partnership with ISC Events.

SIA and ISMA intend to conduct these activities at organizational meetings and industry events, such as ISMA general meetings, ISC West and ISC East.
