Recognition for Leaders During The Advance at ISC West 2016

Security Industry Association (SIA)

The Security Industry Association (SIA) held its annual meeting The Advance at ISC West 2016 on Tuesday, April 5, conducting business of the association as well as recognizing outstanding leaders in the security industry from the previous year.

Outgoing SIA Chairman V. John Stroia reviewed the association’s accomplishments under his tenure, which included expanded collaboration with other associations and organizations, enhanced education offerings from the SIA Education program and a stronger Certified Security Project Manager credential, and a significant increase in overall membership, which now stands at more than 650 member organizations.

Mr. Stroia also welcomed new SIA Chairman of the Board Denis Hebert who took charge officially on Tuesday.

Before he passed the gavel however, Mr. Stroia recognized outstanding security industry leaders from the previous year with a slate of awards.

Peter Michael, Solutions Architect, SAIC, received the SIA Committee Chair of the Year Award. With this award, SIA recognized Mr. Michael for leading industry efforts to revise and update the AG-01 Architectural Graphics Standard–CAD Symbols for Security System Layout Standard 3.0. AG-01 is a collection of architectural graphics for security intended for use by architects, building contractors, system integrators, electrical contractors and security managers who use CAD to produce construction drawings, shop drawings and installation/as-built drawings, and physical security system layouts.

Lynn de Seve, President, GSA Schedules Inc. received the SIA Chairman’s Award. Ms. de Seve has been a capable leader within the security industry in the past year, assisting SIA and security companies with government relations, actively participating in the 2015 SIA Government Summit, and allying with SIA to offer its members new benefits.

John Mack, Executive Vice President and Co-Head, Investment Banking Group, Imperial Capital, received the SIA Sandy Jones Volunteer of the Year Award. With this award, SIA recognized Mr. Mack for launching the SIA Investment Trends Committee, which keeps SIA Members abreast of financial developments in the security industry on Wall Street and within private equity. Mr. Mack has been a leader in SIA conferences and webcasts, and he has shared information and forecasts on the security marketplace.

The Advance also featured an exclusive interview of Dean Drako, CEO of Eagle Eye Networks, on his views of the security marketplace conducted by Avisian’s Chris Corum. Ed Several of ISC Events gave SIA members an overview of changes to the ISC West Exposition this year to empower them to maximize their time and energies at the show.

And finally, executives from NAPCO Security Technologies Inc. received recognition from Mr. Stroia for reaching a corporate milestone of 30 years of uninterrupted SIA Membership.
