SILVER SPRING, Md. – The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced details for the 2024 SIA GovSummit, SIA’s annual public policy and government security technology conference. SIA GovSummit 2024 will be held May 21-22 in downtown Washington, D.C.

Each year, SIA GovSummit brings together government security leaders with private industry technologists for top-quality information sharing and education on security topics affecting federal, state and local agencies. The 2024 GovSummit program includes specialized sessions on essential topics in contracting, procurement, infrastructure and facility protection; highlights how security product standards help meet government needs; and explores the latest policies, practices and trends impacting security. Discussion topics include:

  • How emerging tech and effective governance intersect to empower law enforcement
  • How government agencies and vendors can comply with the White House’s executive order on artificial intelligence
  • Federal, state and local procurement of security products through the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA)
  • Staying ahead of state-sponsored cybersecurity threats
  • Navigating supply chain challenges, grant funding and procurement rules impacting electronic security products
  • How schools can strengthen their security through industry partnerships, outside grant funding, physical security measures and more
  • Safeguarding sensitive environments in the era of hostile drone threats

“For the 2024 SIA GovSummit, SIA is proud to present an engaging, enriching lineup of expert-led sessions on the top issues and areas of concern connecting government, security and technology,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “This high-quality conference brings government and industry professionals together in one room to exchange information, make connections and examine the most important topics in converged security, government procurement needs and how emerging technologies are being used to secure government facilities, public spaces, critical infrastructure and more. New for this year, we are also pleased to offer a track of school-relevant sessions and conversations on Day 2 of the conference.”

Each year at GovSummit, hundreds of public- and private-sector professionals gather to examine emerging policy trends, technology needs of the government and changes in the risk environment that shape development of products and advanced systems integration to meet evolving security challenges. Attendees include federal agency employees, military and law enforcement personnel, state and local government officials and employees, government affairs staff and congressional staff.

In addition to the two-day conference program, SIA attendees will celebrate the honorees of the 2024 SIA Women in Biometrics Awards on the morning of May 21 and enjoy evening receptions on both days of GovSummit, featuring top-tier networking, drinks and hors d’oeuvres and visits to the conference exhibitor tables.
