The Truth About Ransomware – Why Public Infrastructure Is So Often A Target
February 25, 2021
The backdrop of a raging global pandemic has not thwarted cybercriminals from launching an increasing barrage of cyber-attacks, in fact, it’s during chaotic times that cyber-crime on the whole increases. Moreover, the institutions we rely on most during these times – healthcare facilities, governments, and schools – are the ones most impacted by these types of attacks. Why are these institutions uniquely targeted for ransomware and other types of cyber-attacks, and how can the security industry help protect these critical parts of our infrastructure from falling victim.
During this one-hour webcast presentation members of SIA’s Cybersecurity Advisory Board will explore:
- How breakdowns in cyber hygiene and policy lead to vulnerabilities within these institutional networks
- What the security industry can learn through data and information sharing to help mitigate these attacks
- Examples of best and worse practice from current events
