Three Reasons Why You Should Join RISE

Are you a young security professional or someone new to the industry? It’s time to join the Security Industry Association’s (SIA’s) RISE program! We’re a group of up-and-comers in the security industry trying to help each other grow our careers, expand industry knowledge, further professional development and have some fun together.

The RISE program is free and has a variety of exciting opportunities and offerings. Here are three reasons why you should join us:

  1. Learn and Grow in Your Career

    As a member of RISE, you can apply for scholarships to use toward further education and professional development. Starting Aug. 1, young professionals and RISE members will be invited to apply for the SIA RISE Scholarship, which provides funds for professional development courses and/or academic programs to help expand knowledge in the areas of human resources, information technology, marketing/sales, project management, security engineering and risk management.     Additionally, SIA RISE members can access informative career track sessions at ISC West and East – or join webinars throughout the year to educate security professionals on a variety of topics, from video analytics to how to get your Certified Security Project Manager certification and more.

  2. Meet Other Young Security Professionals

    The RISE community is made up of many other young professionals just like you! As a member of RISE, you’ll be invited to fun in-person networking events – held at top trade shows and in major cities across the country – where you can mix and mingle with others in the industry.

  3. Access New Job and Internship Opportunities

    SIA RISE members will have access to an internship and job board through the Security Industry Recruitment Center, where they can see opportunities for further career growth.

The RISE program is led by a committee of SIA member volunteers who champion the role of young professionals in the industry. To join RISE, all that’s required is to be part of a SIA member company and either be a young security professional under 40 or be new to the security industry (less than two years).
