  1. To help the industry recover from the business impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST) has announced an extension of its free job listings for Electronic Security Association (ESA) and Security Industry Association (SIA) members. ESA and SIA members will now be able to list jobs on the FAST Jobs Board for free through Aug. 31, 2022; learn more and get started here.
  2. SIA is looking to get members involved in reaching out to students at community colleges, universities and technical schools. Anyone interested in participating in SIA’s student outreach initiative should reach out to Walter Kunkle at wkunkle@securityindustry.org.
  3. Join us virtually Oct. 5 for a 30-minute info session to learn more about SIA’s Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM) credential and Security Project Management (SPM) training offerings! We’ll cover what makes the CSPM credential unique compared to other project management certifications, how to get started earning your CSPM, the different SPM course options available and more.   4. SIA delivered over 65+ essential education sessions during ISC West 2021. All sessions were prerecorded for the hybrid conference and are available to watch by registering through ISC West.
  5. SIA has revealed the agendaspeaker lineup and program for Part 3 of the 2021 SIA GovSummit, which will be held Sept. 21 as a hybrid conference, with attendees having the option to join in person in Reston, Virginia, or participate virtually via Zoom. Learn more and register to attend.
  6. On Aug. 10, the U.S. Senate passed a $1 trillion infrastructure spending package, now under consideration in the House, which includes $17 billion for port infrastructure, $25 billion for airports, $39 billion to modernize public transit and $50 billion for energy grid protection. SIA will be providing more information and analysis soon.
  7. The next SIA OSDP Boot Camp will be held at SIA’s offices on Wednesday, Sept. 22. This one-day course will provide a comprehensive overview of the SIA Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) specification and allow hands-on experimentation and troubleshooting with OSDP devices. Learn more and register here.
