  • SIA is your community. Help make it stronger by taking the 2023 SIA Member Satisfaction Survey! SIA asks all members to take five minutes to complete our 2023 survey by Friday, May 26.   • SIA GovSummit, SIA’s annual conference connecting government, security and technology, is coming to Washington, D.C., May 16-17! Speakers have been announced for this premier conference; don’t miss the chance to hear from Day 2 keynote speaker Scott Shellenberger, state’s attorney for Baltimore County, Maryland, and top experts at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the Transportation Security Administration, the U.S. Department of Commerce and more.   • SIA and ISC Security Events are seeking proposals from subject matter experts for the SIA Education@ISC conference programs at ISC East 2023 (Nov. 14-16 at the Javits Center in New York City) and ISC West 2024 (April 9-12 at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada) – two of the leading security industry conferences and expositions each year. Proposals are due Friday, June 9, and speakers will be notified of their proposal statuses by Friday, Oct. 6. Submit your ISC East proposal here, and submit your ISC West proposal here.
  • ASIS International and SIA have announced the agenda and speaker lineup for the inaugural Security LeadHER conference, an event designed to showcase women in security. Security LeadHER 2023 will be held June 12-13 at the Hilton Nashville Downtown Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. This new conference from ASIS and SIA will bring together security professionals committed to advancing, connecting and empowering women in the security profession. Learn more and register here.

  • SIA has named five women biometrics leaders as recipients of the 2023 SIA Women in Biometrics Awards, a globally recognized program presented by SIA with support from sponsors IDEMIA and NEC Corporation of America and organizational and media partners AVISIAN, Biometric Update, FindBiometrics, Mobile ID World and SIA’s Identity & Biometric Technology Advisory Board and Women in Security Forum. The 2023 awardees, who will be honored at SIA GovSummit, are Larisa Boyko, director of quality assurance, advanced recognition systems at NEC Corporation of America; Alicia Harrison, chief of stakeholder engagement, Office of Biometric Identity Management at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Casey Mayfield, senior vice president of justice and public safety at IDEMIA; C.   • Got an idea to share with young leaders in the security industry? Speak at AcceleRISE 2023! The SIA  RISE community for young professionals and those new to the security industry is looking for creative speaking proposals for the 2023 AcceleRISE conference, taking place Aug. 14-16 in the Mile High City – Denver, Colorado.   • Calling all early and mid-career security industry professionals! The SIA RISE community invites you to apply for the 2023 Talent Inclusion Mentorship Education (TIME) program. TIME is back with an impressive cohort of mentors ready to help new talent and emerging leaders flourish in the security industry. This program is open to anyone (no membership required). Applications for the 2023 TIME program are due May 26; learn more and apply here.
