Dunn has identified five key goals and focus areas for the association as he embarks on his new role as chair:

  • Membership Value: Consistently examine ways to increase the SIA member value proposition, including through manufacturer benefits (such as research); the growth of SPARC, a new practitioner community within SIA built by some of our most dedicated end-user members; the Integrator Maturity Model; collaboration with security consultants; the MAP program and engagement with startup businesses; and leveraging the SIA Endowment Program
  • Broader Security Technology Thought Leadership: Encourage member engagement and content development in emerging technology areas and across security technology sectors and coordinate with other standards developing organizations and associations
  • School Security Standards: Drive consensus among stakeholders for a national school security standard
  • Industry Image and Prestige: Regularly tell the value and “story” of our industry in creative ways leveraging member involvement and creativity, including engagement with mainstream media outlets, supporting efforts to recruit new talent into the industry and supporting advocacy efforts
  • Workforce Development: Increase awareness of efforts through the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST), accelerate outreach to colleges and universities and secure participation in the SIA Security Systems Technician Apprenticeship Program
