SIA spoke with Anthony Gilboy, president of Tailored Security, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.
Anthony Gilboy: Founded in 2020, Tailored Security was established a forward-thinking endeavor built on passion, expertise and years of hands-on experience in the physical security industry. With a clear vision of the industry’s shift toward modern solutions, I created Tailored Security to bridge the gap between traditional practices and innovative technologies.
I grew up in an electrical family and began my career early, assisting my father and uncle with large-scale fire alarm projects at just 15 years old during summers and winter breaks. I continued building my technical foundation throughout college, gaining both knowledge and practical experience.
After years of working as a senior technician, I observed the recurring challenges faced daily by customers and technicians alike chiefly the lack of system integrations and the inefficiencies this created. Recognizing the growing demand for modern, interconnected solutions, I founded Tailored Security to deliver specialized, robust systems that simplify operations for customers without requiring them to manage unnecessary complexity.
Beyond technical expertise, I fostered a culture of collaboration and understanding within Tailored Security, ensuring that the needs of technicians, project managers, sales representatives and end users are fully addressed in every solution provided.
Since its founding, Tailored Security has been improving and modernizing security systems across the country, helping clients operate with greater confidence, reliability and peace of mind.

What is something we might not know about your company—or something new you are doing in security?
AG:We are trying to streamline every single customer so that we can troubleshoot 90% of a problem before requiring a technician to be sent to a site. This will heavily reduce the customer’s cost for service and our technician’s time on-site.

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?
AG: At Tailored Security, our vision is rooted in a commitment to quality across every aspect of our business.
What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?
AG: The biggest opportunities in the security industry right now lie in leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to analyze data for predictive risk management. By harnessing these technologies, we can significantly reduce false alarms and enhance incident detection capabilities, particularly through the use of video AI for security and operational monitoring.
Additionally, there is a notable shift towards cloud-based solutions for access control and video surveillance. This presents a significant opportunity for manufacturers, consultants, integrators and end users alike to capitalize on the benefits of cloud technology, such as scalability, flexibility and centralized management. Embracing these advancements can lead to improved efficiency, cost savings and enhanced security measures across various sectors within the industry.

What are your predictions for the security industry in the short and long term?
AG: In the short term, we predict that the security industry will increasingly leverage technologies such as AI and cloud-based solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Mobile credentials are likely to replace plastic cards as the primary credential for both commercial and government entities due to their convenience and enhanced security features.
What are the biggest challenges facing your company and/or others in the security industry?
AG: One of the significant challenges facing our company and others in the security industry is the complexity and diversity of security systems available today. These systems are powerful and offer a wide range of options, making it challenging to maximize their effectiveness collectively. Convincing clients to embrace our DEFENDER system presents a substantial hurdle for ADRM, as It requires overcoming resistance to change and demonstrating the value and benefits of adopting new security solutions. Additionally, staying ahead of evolving threats and technology advancements while ensuring compatibility and integration across various systems remains a persistent challenge for the security industry as a whole.

What do you enjoy most about being at your company—and in the security industry?
AG: What we enjoy most about our company and in the security industry is seeing the personal growth and success of our team members. We take immense pride in witnessing our colleagues achieve milestones such as achieving financial stability and experiencing life-enriching opportunities. Additionally, celebrating important life events like marriages and the expansion of families adds to the sense of fulfillment within our workplace. Above all else, this aspect of our company culture is what makes our experience truly rewarding. We are inspired by the opportunity to be part of a company and industry that values and celebrates the individual achievements and happiness of its team members.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

These events provide invaluable opportunities for knowledge sharing, collaboration and staying abreast of the latest trends and advancements in the security industry.
Our primary hope for our membership with SIA is to establish meaningful connections with industry leaders, forge strategic partnerships and gain insights that will help us enhance our offerings and stay competitive in the market. By engaging with the best minds in the industry through SIA, we aim to foster innovation, drive growth and ultimately deliver greater value to our clients and stakeholders.
