SIA New Member Profile: CommScope
New Security Industry Association (SIA) member CommScope designs and manufactures network infrastructure products through its business segments: broadband networks, venue and campus networks and outdoor wireless networks. The company is headquartered in Claremont, North Carolina, with manufacturing facilities and distribution warehouses around the globe.
SIA spoke with Jason Reasor, vice president of building and campus product line, strategy and marketing at CommScope, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.
Jason Reasor: CommScope Holding Company, Inc., was incorporated in Delaware on Oct. 22, 2010, and our initial public offering for our common stock was on Oct. 25, 2013. Since our founding as an independent company in 1976, we have consistently played a significant role in many of the world’s leading communication networks. Our evolution has been driven by technological innovation and strategic acquisitions that expanded our product offerings and complemented our existing solutions.
Formally founded in 1976 in Hickory, North Carolina, CommScope began as a product line within Superior Cable Corporation. But our history reaches back decades earlier with the transformational acquisitions of Andrew Corporation (started in 1937), Avaya’s Connectivity Solutions (SYSTIMAX, created in 1989),\ and TE Connectivity’s Telecom, Enterprise and Wireless businesses (started as far back as 1935). In August 2017, CommScope acquired Cable Exchange, who provides complementary fiber assemblies and quick-turn capabilities for the fast-growing data center market.
As the years passed, the company has evolved from its founding as a cable manufacturer to become a global, diversified provider of broadband, enterprise and wireless infrastructure solutions. CommScope has played a role in virtually all the world’s best communication networks. We are at the forefront of shaping infrastructure, products and solutions that enhance people’s lives.
On Aug. 4, 2025, CommScope announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Connectivity and Cable Solutions (CCS) segment to Amphenol Corporation (NYSE: APH). CommScope is selling its CCS business to Amphenol for approximately $10.5 billion in cash, to be paid by Amphenol upon closing. The sale is expected to close within the first half of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions, including receipt of applicable regulatory approvals and the affirmative vote of the shareholders. The vote is required under Delaware law due to the nature and size of the transaction.
We entered the security industry naturally, driven by the rapid shift of security systems to IP-based architectures. As cameras, access control and other security devices became network-connected, they required the same reliable copper and fiber infrastructure we already provide for mission-critical IT systems. Structured cabling became the physical foundation enabling modern security solutions.
What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings or your company unique?
JR: The security industry evolved from analog, standalone systems to IP-based, networked platforms. That transition made structured cabling—both copper and fiber—essential for connecting and powering devices like IP cameras, access control panels and sensors. Our involvement in security is a direct result of that evolution; therefore, CommScope provides high-performance, standards-based structured cabling solutions—spanning copper, fiber and connectivity—that form the reliable physical infrastructure for converged IP networks. Our solutions enable scalable, resilient and future-ready environments, supporting mission-critical enterprise applications and connected devices, including network and security systems, while allowing customers to grow and adapt over time.
In regards to what makes our offering unique, CommScope’s Extended Reach portfolio addresses the challenge of powering and connecting devices beyond the standard 100-meter limit set by commercial building standards. CommScope Solutions like Constellation, GigaREACH XL and FiberREACH provide reliable data and power delivery over extended distances, supporting high-power Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices such as security cameras, access control panels and wireless access points. By incorporating advanced design features and/or hybrid cabling, these solutions simplify network infrastructure, reduce deployment and maintenance costs and ensure optimal performance for devices located far from the nearest telecom room. This innovation helps network and facility managers meet growing connectivity demands.

What is something we might not know about your company—or something new you are doing in security?
JR: One thing many people may not realize is how we’re simplifying long-distance IP camera deployments using copper. With our GigaREACH XL solution, we can support copper links up to 250 meters while delivering PoE up to 90 watts at 10 megabits per second—more than enough for most IP cameras—which allows cameras to be connected directly without PoE extenders or fiber and transceivers, reducing system complexity, eliminating potential failure points, speeding installation and ultimately lowering both upfront costs and total cost of ownership.
What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?
JR: Our vision in the security industry is to help remove traditional infrastructure limitations while strengthening security from the ground up. We do this by extending the physical boundaries of what’s possible—such as enabling longer copper distances for IP devices—and by reinforcing security at layer 1. Through solutions like imVision, our automated infrastructure management platform, we can monitor, detect and precisely locate unauthorized or unplanned changes to network and patch-panel connectivity in real time. By generating immediate alerts via email, text messages, SNMP traps and other methods, we help organizations improve visibility, reduce risk and respond more quickly to potential security and availability issues.
What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?
JR: For us, being part of SIA is all about the people and the experiences. The biggest benefit is getting to show up at industry events, meet incredible professionals and swap ideas with the best in the business. These gatherings aren’t just conferences—they’re where collaboration happens, insights are shared and the latest trends come to life.
What we’re really excited about is building genuine connections with leaders in the field, sparking partnerships that matter and picking up fresh perspectives that help us stay sharp and competitive. By engaging with the brightest minds through SIA, we’re not just keeping pace—we’re driving innovation, fueling growth and creating even more value for our clients and stakeholders.
