SIA New Member Profile: Concentric Strategies

SIA Member Profile: Concentric Strategies Jason Rosen, principal consultant and founder, Concentric Strategies

New Security Industry Association (SIA) member Concentric Strategies is a security consultancy company that manages complex security projects across some of the United States’ most critical facilities. The company is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has the ability to serve clients across the U.S. and internationally.

SIA spoke with Jason Rosen, PSP, principal consultant and founder of Concentric Strategies, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.

Jason Rosen: After 25 years in and around the federal government, I was faced with having to take the current administration’s Deferred Resignation Program, which also came along with the Voluntary Early Retirement Authority, in early 2025. On top of that, they were willing to pay me to stay home for 10 months despite the security needs at the Ronald Reagan Building. Not long after leaving, I spoke at ISC East and was offered a project. That happened a few times, and then I created Concentric Strategies as an LLC.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings or your company unique?

JR: I have been very fortunate to have had a very wide breath of knowledge and experience in the security industry. I have lead operations; done security design; implemented enterprise-wide electronic security countermeasures; implemented FICAM (HSPD-12), federal contracting and procurement and federal law enforcement; and managed large-scale events like presidential inaugurations, Fortune 500 Conferences and the NATO 75th conference, as well as secured our nation’s most sensitive critical infrastructure and assets. I believe that with this experience, I have the ability to help people understand their security requirements and offer mitigation strategies, so they understand and accept their risk tolerance.

What is something we might not know about your company—or something new you are doing in security?

JR: I am a member of The National Council of School Safety Directors (NCSSD), a professional organization created to establish a national standard, certification, advocacy and continuing education for School Safety Directors. The council recognizes the utmost importance of safeguarding our schools, the NCSSD is committed to fostering a collaborative environment where leaders in school safety can work together to advance the field and protect the well-being of students, faculty and staff.

Also, I have recently completed the Fundamentals of School Safety Leadership Certificate Program sponsored by the NCSSD. Having this endorsement allows me to conduct security assessments better tailored to using the Partner Alliance for Safer Schools (PASS) K–12 criteria. What I learned is the school space is probably where the federal government was right after 9/11 with adopting security requirements, policy and procedures and technologies.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?

JR: Obviously, how artificial intelligence is going to be used in the industry as a tool is one opportunity. I, myself, have embraced and even taken a prompt engineering course. I think the educational space is a growing field that needs to be treated with kid gloves. There are lot of people out there selling the shiny new objects and the magic potion, educators are desperate to find solutions to their problems and parents are keeping them accountable for good reasons.

What are the biggest challenges facing your company and/or others in the security industry?

JR: I would say the biggest challenge is what any new small business is facing: How do you get the work, do the work—and get the next project in the queue? There are a lot of companies that are big and small and have varying degrees of competence. A person needs to set themselves apart in a niche and do the best they can.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

JR: SIA hands down is the largest, most respected network of security industry professionals in the country, if not the world. ISC West is a huge conference that’s been happening for a long time. I remember back in the early 2000s when SIA was really trying to find their identity (no pun intended), and I think Don Erickson, the board, the staff and the members, who have accomplished a lot.

How does your organization engage with SIA? What are your plans for involvement in the next year?

JR: I think participating in different forums, being a resource for people and attending ISC West and East are great ways.
