SIA New Member Profile: Gate Logic Security

New Security Industry Association (SIA) member Gate Logic Security is an elite full-service company specializing in gates, gate automation and access controls. The company – headquartered in Manassas, Virginia – serves residential, commercial and high-security facilities in the Washington, D.C., area and plans to extend its footprint into the southeastern region of Virginia in the coming years.

SIA spoke with Shanna Gray, president of Gate Logic Security, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA. Ms. Gray’s career in the gate and access control industry spans 11 years.

SIA: Tell us the story of your company.

Shanna Gray: I founded Gate Logic Security in early 2012, when I made the decision to invest my years of industry knowledge, experience and expertise into my own company. I recruited the best-of-the-best technical talent to build an exceptional team and turned to my long-standing, trusted relationships with manufacturers. Gate Logic has grown 57 percent (CAGR) in its seven-year history.      

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

SG: At Gate Logic Security, we service and install all major brands throughout the D.C. area for residential, commercial and high-security facilities. Our years of experience and expertise offer our customers all the key steps of security design, planning, implementation, installation, integration and service. We pride ourselves on providing superior technical knowledge with an emphasis on customer service and support.

What’s something we might not know about your company – or something new you’re doing in security?

SG: Of particular interest, Gate Logic Security recently secured its first contract on the African continent. A contract for their first project in South America is also pending.     

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

SG: We protect and secure life, property and information through controlled perimeter access.

Based on current trends, Gate Logic Security is poised for marked growth in the years ahead. We seek to increase our market share across each of our three core business sectors and expand our geographic footprint.

What are the biggest challenges facing your company and/or others in the security industry?

SG: We see tremendous growth opportunity within our sector of the security industry. The need for perimeter security as a first line of defense has heightened significantly in recent years. As gates, bollards, barriers and access control technology continue to advance, Gate Logic Security is positioned to deliver new and enhanced features and functionalities for the protection of life, property and information across commercial, high secure locations and VIP residential settings.    

What are your predictions for the security industry in the short and long term?

SG: The security industry will continue to evolve at a rapid pace as new threats to the safety of our business and residential communities continue to arise. In particular, we anticipate significant opportunities within the educational, community and event sectors.   

What are the biggest challenges facing your company and/or others in the security industry?

SG: As an organization, our greatest challenge is sustaining our unwavering focus on quality and continuous process improvements.

The greatest challenge facing businesses today is the need to be proactive in terms of accessing risk to their property, employees/customers/visitors and their data. Unfortunately, it is most often the security breach itself that ultimately drives companies to take appropriate steps to assess, plan, implement and test key security systems. It is incumbent upon executive management teams and security practitioners – both physical and logical – to design and develop security systems to reduce or eliminate potential risk for loss ahead of an incident.

SIA: What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership?

SG: As a fairly young and growing company, Gate Logic Security looks to its SIA membership to expand awareness of the company and its distinct reputation for quality service. SIA’s expansive member network, access to influencers and buyers and events/education are important to Gate Logic Security. Additionally, it is vital to stay informed on industry standards and legislation with the potential to impact our business. SIA’s work with and engagement in government affairs directly support our outreach to current and potential new high-security clients within local, state and federal governments.

SIA: How does your organization engage with SIA? What are your plans for involvement in the next year?

SG: Gate Logic Security’s executive team plans to take an active part in SIA education and networking events, locally and nationally. We look forward to engaging with security industry thought leaders to gain insights into key trends driving the marketplace for our products and services. Our executive team also intends to capture future speaking and authorship opportunities as a means to share its knowledge, experience and expertise with SIA members and end users.
