Tell us the story of your company.

Established in 2015, YI Technology was founded to make people's lives safer and richer through advanced technology at an accessible price point. Since its inception, YI has become a global provider of artificial intelligence (AI) powered video technology solutions for home security and medical emergency detection. In August 2020, the company rebranded to “Kami Vision” and set out to create a vision AI platform that provides solutions for consumers and businesses.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

Kami Vision offers affordable DIY whole home security solutions including

  1. 24/7 home monitoring and video verification for rapid emergency response
  2. Automatic emergency detection and false alarm reduction using proprietary AI algorithms running on the edge and cloud
  3. SDK and APIs for 3rd party security service providers to integrate with our home security solution

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

Company Vision: Kami Vision makes advanced, practical vision AI affordable and accessible for any consumer or business.

Several top-tier CMs license our camera hardware design to build home security camera products under their own brand and their customers use Kami home security services such as cloud storage and 24/7 monitoring.

We have an internal AI team that develops cloud and edge-AI algorithms. The majority of our cameras are equipped with neural-network accelerator (NNA) hardware that can run powerful AI algorithms such as human detection and face detection and makes these cameras supported by our platform truly intelligent.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?

Today, cameras are dumb video streaming devices. The biggest opportunity is in exploring how AI can be used to extract actionable insights from videos for businesses as well as benefit end-consumers. For example, there are cameras installed in nursing homes to monitor for patient emergencies but someone has to physically be watching the video to detect an emergency. With vision AI, the camera can alert you when there is an abnormal movement such as falls, epilepsy, aggression, etc.

How does your organization engage with SIA? What are your plans for involvement in the next year?
