On Data Privacy Day 2021, the Security Industry Association (SIA) reiterates its commitment to promoting sound data privacy practices in the converged security technology sector.
SIA in 2017 created the Data Privacy Advisory Board, and during the past four years, that panel has raised awareness of this critical issue through webinars, white papers, conference presentations, Capitol Hill outreach, podcasts, videos and other means.
The Data Privacy Advisory Board is now preparing to release a code of conduct to provide the industry with a broad set of guidelines to ensure that personal information is both protected and respected. In addition, the Board is developing codes of practice that will provide more focused privacy recommendations that are specific to certain technologies, as well as educational resources for lawmakers and their aides and an analysis of the recent expansion of the California Consumer Privacy Act.
With privacy and security having complementary roles in networked security solutions, SIA is proud to take a leading role in advancing both.
