SIA New Member Profile: Turing AI

New Security Industry Association (SIA) member Turing AI – formerly known as Turing Video – works to make employee and customer health, security and well-being easy through its artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision, robotics, security and health solutions. The company is headquartered in San Mateo, California.

SIA spoke with Ron Rothman, president of Turing AI, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.

Ron Rothman: In 2014, as Ph.D. students at the University of Southern California (USC) and the University of California, Los Angeles, the founders of Turing AI experienced an unthinkable tragedy when a friend and colleague was gunned down in a drive-by shooting on the USC campus. The entire incident was captured on security cameras, but the cameras were unmanned and unable to accurately capture license plate information or images clear enough for facial recognition or identification of the shooter. Another life was cut short, and the promise of a secure campus and protected environment was unfulfilled.

This tragedy propelled the founders to think about security and protection differently and to see the possibilities of AI to deliver on promises unfulfilled. Turing AI was founded in 2017 in the heart of Silicon Valley with a mission to reimagine the safety and security industry with AI. Protection has always been at the core of what Turing stands for – it’s in our DNA.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

RR: Protection is also about more than physical security. At our very core, Turing AI develops complex, machine learning models to integrate with industry-proven robotics, video analytics and health solutions to create interconnected AI-enabled solutions unlike any other in the world.

What is something we might not know about your company – or something new you are doing in security?

RR: Turing AI AI recently announced the Turing Partner Program, our new channel-first partner program designed to help dealers and system integrators expand their portfolio and services with an AI-enabled video surveillance platform. The program will help expand Turing AI’s reach and support their mission to deliver cutting-edge solutions to customers in need of NDAA-compliant video surveillance and analytics.

As the security industry is evolving to more of a video surveillance as a service model, we knew it was time to think differently and change the way we go to market. We know through our dealer partners we can get Turing AI’s products into the hands of end users much faster and increase our footprint. Turing AI’s solutions deliver an additional layer of AI analytics and business insights for customers to transform their physical security infrastructure and improve operational efficiency.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?
