SIA New Member Profile: Barco

New Security Industry Association (SIA) member Barco is a global leader in visualization, networking and collaboration technology. While its global headquarters are situated in Kortrijk, Belgium, Barco has regional teams dedicated to serving the Europe, Middle East and Africa; Americas; and Asia-Pacific regions. In the Americas, it operates from its headquarters in Duluth, Georgia, with focused teams catering to both North and Latin America.

SIA spoke with Dan Gundry, senior director, control room sales U.S. at Barco, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.

Dan Gundry: Barco is a 90-year-old visualization company that focuses on several specialty markets including control rooms, medical, entertainment, corporate, simulation and more. (Fun fact: If you see a movie in the theatre these days, there is a 50/50 chance you are watching that movie on a Barco projector!)  In security, Barco control room products are used in the security operations center and global security operations center environments of many Fortune 100 companies, as well as utilities, health care and public safety markets. 

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings or your company unique?

DG: Barco is the only mission critical manufacturer of both control room-grade video wall displays and best-in-class content management and processing solutions. Barco engineers and manufactures its products for the mission-critical control room environment, so the feature sets and value propositions of our technologies are specifically designed for a more informed and responsive operator experience, with high availability, 24/7-operation, redundancy and life cycle in mind.

What’s something we might not know about your company – or something new you’re doing in security?

DG: Barco completed a survey in 2023 of 1,000+ control room professionals from across vertical market (including security) that has helped Barco and its partners better understand the workflow challenges and operational concerns of the end user. This data is available to be shared with our various partners and interested parties who want to learn more about the mission-critical control room environment.  

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

DG: SIA has a tremendous educational mission to the security industry, and that excites Barco, as we believe firmly in that mission of education and awareness. Specifically around the critical control room market, Barco attempts to educate our customers on trends, best practices and benchmarking to help those customers improve their operations and better support their organizations.
