SIA spoke with John Croce, CEO of NVT Phybridge, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

SIA: Tell us the story of your company.

NVT PhybridgeJohn Croce: NVT Phybridge is the combination of two companies, Network Video Technologies Inc. (NVT) and Phybridge Inc. (Phybridge). Phybridge was founded in 2008 after its founders invented the world’s first network switch that could deliver PoE over a single pair of unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cabling with reach capabilities of up to 1,200 feet (365 meters), four times the reach of standard PoE switches. This network innovation helped thousands of organizations upgrade from legacy analog voice systems to IP communication solutions without high costs, complexity or business disruption.

As organizations started migrating to IP physical security, Phybridge saw an opportunity to expand its offerings to deliver the same value to this emerging market. In 2014, Phybridge developed the first long-reach Ethernet over coax switch to help organizations enable the latest IP security devices over their existing and reliable coax-based infrastructure. In 2015, Phybridge acquired NVT, a respected name in video transmission solutions, which helped the organization expand into the physical security market.

SIA: What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

NVT Phybridge rackJC: Today, NVT Phybridge offers long-reach PoE switches and extenders that transform any new or existing UTP, coax, or 2-wire infrastructure into a secure and robust PoE backbone to support IP security devices, eliminating costly, disruptive and time-consuming infrastructure readiness requirements. These PoE innovations help customers maintain a physically separate network for IP devices, ensuring the security and performance of the primary data network. These solutions also help organizations align their digital transformation goals with sustainability objectives by reusing existing infrastructure assets to reduce e-waste and material consumption.

The NVT Phybridge IP product line includes three distinct product families that leverage different cable types (single-pair UTP, coax, and multi-pair UTP) to deliver power and data with up to 6,000 feet (1,830 meters) reach – which is 18 times farther than a standard PoE switches. These solutions help their partners and end-user customers simplify the deployment of IP devices across the enterprise without recabling or the need for repeaters, server closets or local power.

SIA: What’s something we might not know about your company – or something new you’re doing in security?

NVT Phybridge EMEA teamJC: NVT Phybridge recently introduced its latest Ethernet over Coax innovation, the CLEER24-10G. As a successor to the CLEER24 switch, the CLEER24-10G brings new features to the product family, including increased bandwidth, layer 3 and layer 4 capabilities and cybersecurity improvements.

SIA: What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership?

N.A. Team NVT PhybridgeJC: SIA’s most valuable contribution to NVT Phybridge lies in its ability to immerse its community in a vibrant security industry ecosystem. The integration empowers engagement in diverse programs and events, acting as a conduit for education and awareness among those less familiar with long-reach PoE solutions for IP and IoT device enablement. Additionally, SIA helps NVT Phybridge forge connections with key stakeholders such as manufacturers, resellers, system integrators, consultants and end users of security products and services. NVT Phybridge eagerly anticipates active involvement in SIA committees, where their unique expertise can make a meaningful impact.
