SIA New Member Profile: SIGemea

New Security Industry Association (SIA) member SIGemea (Security Integrators Group) offers comprehensive security solutions tailored to the unique needs of the European market. The company is headquartered in Warmond, the Netherlands, manages projects across the European continent and has team members operating in multiple countries.
SIA spoke with Edward van den Berg, CEO of SIGemea, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.
Tell us the story of your company.
Edward van den Berg: Our main question at SIGemea was: How can we help corporate end users and enterprise system integrators roll out on the European continent?
SIGemea was established in 2007 with a mission to bridge the gap between local expertise and global security standards. The company was born out of the recognition that multinational corporations and U.S.-based integrators often face significant challenges when expanding their security operations into Europe. These challenges include navigating diverse regulatory landscapes, sourcing reliable local partners and ensuring that global standards are consistently met across various regions.
As the company founder, leveraging my decades of experience in the security industry, I recognized the need for a specialized service that not only understands the nuances of the European market but also offers seamless integration with United States-based security protocols. Today, SIGemea stands as a trusted partner for American integrators and global enterprises, delivering tailored security solutions across Europe with the same rigor and commitment as if the projects were being handled domestically.

What’s something we might not know about your company – or something new you’re doing in security?
EV: SIGemea has recently expanded its offerings to include a new remote application support service that leverages the latest in cloud technology. This service allows our clients to monitor and manage their European security systems from anywhere in the world, providing real-time insights and control that enhance both security and operational efficiency. This innovation is part of our ongoing commitment to integrating the latest technologies into our service offerings to better meet the evolving needs of our clients.
What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?
EV: At SIGemea, our vision is to be the premier security partner for U.S.-based integrators and global enterprises operating in Europe. We aim to set the standard for excellence in cross-border security services, providing our clients with the peace of mind that their European operations are protected by the best in the industry.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?
EV: The biggest opportunity in the security industry today lies in the convergence of global standards with local expertise. As businesses expand internationally, the ability to implement consistent, high-quality security measures across different regions is paramount. SIGemea is at the forefront of this trend, offering solutions that ensure seamless integration of U.S. security protocols within the European market.
What are your predictions for the security industry in the short and long term?
EV: In the short term, we expect to see a growing demand for remote security management solutions, particularly in regions where travel and on-site management are challenging. Long-term, we anticipate that the security industry will increasingly move towards unified platforms that integrate various security systems into a single, manageable interface, making it easier for global companies to oversee their operations across multiple countries.
What are the biggest challenges facing your company and/or others in the security industry?
EV: One of the main challenges is navigating the complex regulatory landscape in Europe, where each country has its own set of rules and standards. At SIGemea, we tackle this by staying ahead of regulatory changes and ensuring that our clients’ systems are always compliant. Additionally, the rapid pace of technological change in the security industry requires constant adaptation and investment in new skills and tools, which we embrace as part of our commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions.

What do you enjoy most about being at your company – and in the security industry?
EV: What we enjoy most at SIGemea is the opportunity to bridge gaps and create connections between different regions, helping our clients succeed on a global scale. The security industry is constantly evolving, and being at the forefront of this change – offering innovative solutions and building lasting partnerships – makes our work incredibly rewarding.
What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?
EV: SIA offers invaluable access to industry knowledge, networking opportunities and cutting-edge insights that help us stay competitive and innovative. Through our membership, we hope to connect with like-minded professionals and potential partners who share our commitment to advancing the security industry, both in the United States and abroad.
How does your organization engage with SIA? What are your plans for involvement in the next year?
EV: We plan to actively participate in SIA events and contribute to discussions on best practices for international security integration. By leveraging SIA’s resources, we aim to enhance our service offerings and strengthen our position as a leader in European security services for U.S. integrators.
