- On June 7, we launched the first-ever Security Industry Community Service Day, which saw many member companies get out into their community with their team members and make a difference in so many ways, from helping the needy to supporting neighborhood nonprofits and even tackling beautification projects.
- We made a difference on Capitol Hill, having held a record 66 Congressional office visits with SIA members on Security Hill Day!
- Our members received strong advocacy wins with the help of our government relations team which provided testimony on 20 different state legislative proposals and appeared for testimony before the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee. Additionally, SIA’s letter to U.S. House and Senate leaders urging protection of access to the lower 900Mhz band for security devices garnered over 90 SIA member signatories.
- In May, the SIA Veterans in Security community held its official launch with a gathering in Washington, D.C., and has since held more networking events for veterans in the security industry and even launched a jobs board that will connect veterans and exiting service members with opportunities in our industry.
- Our members delivered incredible presentations and achieved record-breaking attendance in the SIA Education@ISC conferences at both ISC West and ISC East.
- Speaking of breaking records, we saw record-breaking attendance for all our major events, including Securing New Ground, SIA Honors Night, Security LeadHER, AcceleRISE and SIA Government Summit.
- This was really an incredible year as we expanded in Mexico and Latin America, holding multiple networking events during Expo Seguridad Mexico and following up with SIA LatAM virtual events and in-person SIAThere! networking events in Mexico!

- Under the guidance of our SIA Utilities Advisory Board, we released the Guide to NERC CIP Compliance, a monumental informational achievement which is available online as the equivalent of a 150-page e-book.
- Leveraging a panel of members who underwrote the project, plus feedback from CISO and CSO leaders, we release our Security Convergence report to wide acclaim and are following up with an OT-Physical Security Convergence report to be issued next month.
- Following a widely completed member survey and focus groups with some of our advisory boards and our group of dedicated project advisors, we released our eighth annual Security Megatrends report to document industry-shifting trends.
- Our AI Advisory Board has come together to produce its All Things AI monthly email newsletter, a quick read to keep you updated on trends related to AI development and implementation (and policy) in our industry.
- We held over 20 networking events around the United States this year through our SIAThere! series and our National Capital Region Security Forum community – plus our ever-popular member networking event at ISC West, the Market Leaders Reception, in addition to other receptions at ISC West, ISC East and GSX.
- Our Endowment Committee funded $182,500 worth of projects in 2024, including market research, economic studies, student workforce programs, college outreach and more – and the group is set to double its funding of projects in 2025.

- SIA’s Honors Night fundraiser for FAST raised over $15,000 (Thank you! Bravo!) and served as the launch of Don Erickson’s Race for FAST fundraising campaign.
- We release over a dozen new market intelligence, research, funding and compliance reports – from school security funding to critical infrastructure grants. These help you assess market opportunities and “follow the money” to new sectors for your firm’s growth!
- We delivered improved onboarding for our industry’s newest employees! We expanded our Security Cornerstones e-learning series for employee onboarding and made available in Spanish to serve the Latin America market.
- In November, together with PSA Security Network, we released the Security Industry Careers Guide – a document all members can use to help recruit new talent to our industry!
- SIA produced the first ever Security Industry Economic Impact Study. This year-long project used the best data from the U.S. government and found eye-opening data that puts our industry at $145.5 billion in annual wages in the U.S. and a total U.S. economic impact of $431.4 billion (yes, billion with a “b”)!
- Our SIA Audio & Intelligent Communications Working Group produced a video series that takes the group’s signature report (“Safe and Sound”) and explores some of the more nuanced topics like privacy, audio policy, audio analytics and more.
- Well over 1,100 new contacts of member company employees created accounts during our late summer “Roster Round Up.” That connection gives them access to the SIA benefits you already enjoy and is a benefit of SIA corporate membership.
- We achieved over 30 major media mentions and quotes from SIA, part of our commitment to elevating the brand of SIA and increasing exposure to our industry.
- And finally, 185 new companies joined SIA, making this the 12th consecutive year of over 100 companies joining the association!
Thank you for making 2024 such a successful year! The collaboration between volunteers like you, the support of all our members and the dedication of our professional staff makes a real difference – and we can’t wait to serve you more in 2025!
