New Security Industry Association (SIA) member Smartech Security is an electronic security company that has successfully designed and implemented thousands of security system solutions and network integrations in a variety of sectors including commercial, industrial and government environments. The company is headquartered in Miami, Florida, with its team operating from multiple strategic locations across and outside the United State.

SIA spoke with Geraldine Torres, partner at Smartech Security, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.

Geraldine Torres: Smartech Security, Corp., is more than just a company; it’s the continuation of a family tradition rooted in the pursuit of safety and security. Our story begins in 1988, when our founder’s parent opened a security company specializing in intrusion detection and fire alarms for residential and commercial clients. From those early days, a commitment to protecting what matters most became our family’s legacy.

Fast forward to 2006, Smartech Security was established in Miami, Florida,initially focused on providing intrusion detection systems for the residential and construction sector and small commercial businesses, we built our foundation on trust, quality and personalized service.

In 2017, recognizing the need for innovation and scalability, we expanded into the large commercial and government sectors. This pivotal step not only marked a new chapter for our company, but also solidified our commitment to becoming a leader in security technology. With a focus on delivering cutting-edge solutions, we transformed into a trusted provider for retail, logistics and other critical industries.

Today, Smartech Security stands proudly as a trusted partner in delivering innovating security solutions. Our reach extends across many cities in multiple countries, a testament to our dedication to excellence and the trust we’ve earned from clients, vendors and partners alike. What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings or your company unique?

GT: We provide advanced solutions in access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection and intercom systems. Our offerings include the latest technologies from leading manufacturers and are designed with open architecture, ensuring scalability and future-proof integration with other systems.

In addition to these core solutions, we offer comprehensive remote support services. This includes video retrieval and analysis, database management and the creation, activation, modification and invalidation of access control and intrusion detection credentials, all performed remotely to support our customers across a wide geographical area.

What is something we might not know about your company – or something new you are doing in security?

GT:At our core, we are committed to delivering a seamless and positive experience for everyone involved in our projects – our clients, staff, suppliers and partners. One of the biggest challenges in our industry is managing budget overruns, often known as “death by change orders,” and we have built our approach to tackle this issue head-on.

Our mission from the beginning has been to deliver projects that are not only meticulously engineered and thoroughly documented, but also flawlessly executed. From the initial consultation and design to delivery and ongoing support, we are dedicated to exceeding expectations at every step of the way. We are proud to provide clarity, reliability and peace of mind, which is why we refuse to accept mediocrity or rely on unnecessary change orders.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

GT: At Smartech Security, we view SIA as an essential partner in navigating the ever-evolving security landscape. Their resources and initiatives play a significant role in helping us stay informed, connected and ahead of industry trends, which is vital for the continued success of our business.
