Call for Participation: Credential Design Working Group – SIA Standards Committee

The Security Industry Association (SIA) Standards Committee is launching the Credential Design Working Group, a new initiative to develop practical guidelines for secure, user-friendly enterprise identification and access credentials. We invite SIA members from the security, technology and corporate sectors to join us in shaping the future of credential design and implementation, under the leadership of co-chairs Teresa Wu from IDEMIA Public Security and Tiffany Renz from HID Global. As an American National Standards Institute-accredited standards developer, SIA drives innovation and interoperability in the security industry through collaborative, open standards. Your participation will help advance secure, user-friendly credential solutions for organizations worldwide.
About the Working Group
The Credential Design Working Group will focus on standardizing the design, security features, protocols and usability of physical identification and access credentials. Our mission is to enhance security, improve user experience and establish clear guidelines that ensure the integrity and functionality of credential systems across industries. By developing clear standards and fostering industry collaboration, the group will enhance security, streamline implementation and ensure that organizations can effectively safeguard their assets and data.
Participants may include manufacturers, technology providers, integrators, security managers, standards experts and end users from sectors like health care, finance or education. Prior standards experience is not required – just a passion for advancing secure, practical solutions. The working group plans to meet once a month to draft the design guidelines. The first meeting is planned for Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
Deliverables will be developed iteratively, with physical credential guidelines targeted for completion by February 2026. Join us to shape the future of credential design!
