SIA spoke with Dan Cremins, senior sales and market development manager at Delta Electronics, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.

Dan Cremins: Delta Electronics offers end-to-end solutions that address clients’ needs for green buildings for environmental, social and governance (ESG), sustainability, carbon reduction and creating a building environment promoting occupant health, safety and security.

Having started in 1971, Delta Electronics has grown into a global leader in energy saving solutions with over 290 locations, including 32 Delta-owned Green Buildings. What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

DC: Besides the solutions offered as part of March Networks and VIVOTEK, Delta Electronics is offering innovative solutions integrating security, building automation, lighting and more together to create a better real estates space for owners, occupants and the environment.

What is something we might not know about your company—or something new you are doing in security?

DC: Delta Electronics solutions are already deployed throughout the world and is internationally recognized as a leader in ESG and sustainability since 2011.

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

DC: Our vision is “Realizing an Intelligent, Sustainable and Connecting World.” This vision includes leveraging the value of data from physical security solutions not just for security applications, but also for any application related to smart buildings and a better environment for tomorrow.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?

DC: Given that artificial intelligence is already established within many security systems, integrating with other tech within buildings making all system better at what they do.

What are your predictions for the security industry in the short and long term?

DC: Utilizing AI-powered video analytics will become mainstream for every application regardless of the vertical.

What are the biggest challenges facing your company and/or others in the security industry?

DC: For those in security industry being thought of as only tech that can only be used for security.

What do you enjoy most about being at your company—and in the security industry?

DC: Having the ability to drive change and convergence across different tech market segments.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

DC: SIA is the largest security focused organization and having two companies (March Networks and Vivotek) already part of SIA, it made sense for Delta Electronics to also join given our vision for an intelligent, sustainable and connecting world.

How does your organization engage with SIA? What are your plans for involvement in the next year?

DC: In addition to my work on the Delta Electronics Building Solutions team, I am the immediate past chair of the SIA Built Environment Advisory Board.
