Support Letter for FY22 National Defense Authorization Act

On Dec. 27, 2021, President Biden signed the FY22 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), legislation that annually authorizes federal funding for various programs under the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and its service branches – the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force.

Prior to its enactment, the Security Industry Association (SIA) circulated a support letter to members of Congress that encouraged lawmakers to approve the recommended funding levels put forth by members of the armed services committees.

In the Nov. 12 letter, addressed to Sens. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) and James Inhofe (R-Okla.), chair and ranking member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, and Reps. Adam Smith (D-Wash.) and Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), SIA recommended that Congress consider several sections, including support for critical biometric programs, robust physical security equipment procurement programs and increasing physical security of military installations, and made some report language recommendations.
