Additional Ways to Get Involved With SIA This Year
Unlock valuable data worth thousands of dollars for your firm by participating in this new initiative to help the security industry attract top talent.
SIA has embarked on the Security Industry Wage & Benefits Benchmarking Study, and insights from the study will be provided exclusively to all SIA members in the first quarter of 2020, with more in-depth analysis provided to member companies who complete the survey. Access to the crunched data will be a benefit of your membership. This new benefit is worth $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the size of your firm; those figures are the typical cost range executives and HR professionals pay when hiring out such a survey on their own.
Kick off 2020 by attending the next free SIAThere! networking event. SIA members, security practitioners, manufacturers, solution providers, integrators and more will gather at Redbird in Los Angeles for complimentary refreshments and industry-wide networking.
SIA is now accepting applications for the 2020 Denis R. Hebert Identity Management Scholarship. This program, presented in partnership with the Center for Identity at the University of Texas at Austin, will offer two $5,000 scholarships for SIA members to help further their education in the field of identity management.
The scholarship was named after Hebert, a member of SIA’s Board of Directors and immediate past chairman of the board, serving as chair from 2016 to 2018. Hebert also serves as president of Feenics Inc. Applications for the 2020 scholarship are due Feb. 29.
SIA is accepting proposals for the next edition of its semiannual journal exploring the latest in security technology, which will be released at ISC West. SIA contains original, vendor-neutral articles about developments and trends in security technology written by industry experts for a security practitioner audience.
SIA’s Center of Excellence is a new online repository of vendor-neutral, vetted information that helps organizations keep at the forefront of ever-changing market demands. Submit an article, webinar, e-learning course or other resource to be featured in SIA’s online repository and help SIA foster industry knowledge and expertise. To learn more or become a contributing member, please contact Dr. Elli Voorhees, SIA director of education and training, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 301-804-4798.
SIA’s committees, advisory boards and working groups lead the industry by defining policy, developing standards, planning education and membership activities and more. Get involved by volunteering your expertise; your knowledge and leadership on a SIA committee can help shape the future of the security industry.
The SIA Women in Security Forum is a group open to all SIA members that offers programs, professional development opportunities and networking and professional growth events to support the involvement of women in the security industry. The mission of the forum is to engage all security professionals to promote, recruit and cultivate the leadership of women for a more inclusive and diversified industry.
