SIA New Member Profile: JMS Security

New Security Industry Association (SIA) member JMS Security is a leading security service provider in Canada that works to protect and safeguard its clients, their loved ones and their assets by eliminating perilous risks. The company is headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia, and its services are scalable and available across western Canada.
SIA spoke with Rabjot Aujla, construction site specialist and director at JMS Security, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.
Rabjot Aujla: JMS Security was founded in 2016 with the goal of delivering professional and reliable security services tailored to the unique needs of the construction industry. Recognizing a gap in site-specific safety and asset protection, we built a business that combines experienced manned guarding with cutting-edge surveillance technologies. Over time, we’ve evolved to become a trusted partner for developers, general contractors and project managers throughout British Columbia.
What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings or your company unique?
RA: We offer a full suite of security solutions including manned guarding, artificial intelligence-enhanced live video monitoring, emergency response, access control, visitor management and event security. What sets us apart is our specialization in the construction industry, combining traditional guard services with advanced technologies such as GPS guard tracking and AI-based surveillance analytics. Our guards are trained in basic and advanced security training, and first aid (levels 1-3), with certifications in construction-related safety training.

What is something we might not know about your company – or something new you are doing in security?
RA: We are aiming for our surveillance systems to offer real-time detection and deterrence of threats such as perimeter breaches, loitering and unauthorized access. In addition, we’re exploring Internet of Things-based safety technologies that can proactively prevent accidents on-site and enhance worker safety and compliance.
What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?
RA: Our vision is to become the most trusted name in construction and industrial security across Canada. We aim to elevate industry standards by combining human expertise with smart surveillance and proactive safety solutions. We want to shift the industry from reactive security to predictive safety, helping prevent incidents before they occur.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?
RA: The integration of AI and real-time analytics into security systems is a game changer. There’s also growing demand for site-specific solutions that are not only preventative but also provide compliance, insurance support and operational insight. Companies that offer bundled safety tech services with reporting and analytics will have a significant advantage.
What are your predictions for the security industry in the short and long term?
RA: In the short term, there will be more adoption of remote video monitoring and hybrid security models. Long-term, we expect convergence between security and operational safety technologies, including mandates for smart safety systems on high-risk sites such as construction and manufacturing.

What are the biggest challenges facing your company and/or others in the security industry?
RA: Workforce reliability and training remain a core challenge, especially with high turnover in the industry. Additionally, educating clients about the value of proactive security technologies and gaining trust for AI-driven systems takes time. The key is transparency, proven outcomes and consistent service quality.
What do you enjoy most about being at your company – and in the security industry?
RA: Being at JMS Security is incredibly fulfilling because we directly contribute to making high-risk environments safer. It’s rewarding to innovate in an industry that has traditionally been reactive and help shape a new standard for proactive, tech-driven safety solutions.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?
RA: A network of like-minded security professionals, emerging technology insights and industry thought leadership that aligns with our innovation-focused vision. We hope to contribute to and learn from the advancement of smart security standards, particularly in construction and critical infrastructure protection.
How does your organization engage with SIA? What are your plans for involvement in the next year?
RA: We plan to engage through SIA-hosted events, webinars and technology-focused panels. We’re especially interested in the working groups focused on AI, physical security and construction site safety. Over the next year, we hope to collaborate with SIA members on developing best practices and case studies.
