SIA spoke with Vicky Lowe, CEO of Eastern DataComm, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.

Vicky Lowe: Eastern DataComm was founded in 1988 in Hackensack, New Jersey, with a mission to deliver dependable, integrated communications and data infrastructure by unifying voice, data and cabling into high-performance systems. Over time, this strong foundation naturally evolved into advanced security and life safety solutions.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

VL: Today, Eastern DataComm provides end-to-end design, deployment and support for video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, cybersecurity, network infrastructure, paging systems, phone systems and the LENS emergency notification platform. Through organic growth and strategic acquisitions, the company has expanded its footprint across New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, North Carolina, and South Carolina—combining regional scale with a strong local presence. Protecting from Core to Edge reflects our commitment to securing the entire environment, from the foundational network infrastructure at the core to the devices, access points and life-safety systems at the edge.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

VL: For Eastern DataComm, membership in the Security Industry Association is most valuable for its leadership in advancing industry standards, education and advocacy at a time when security technologies are rapidly converging. SIA’s insights help our team stay ahead of emerging technologies, regulatory changes and evolving best practices. Through our membership, we hope to deepen collaboration with peers, manufacturers and technology partners; gain early visibility into innovations shaping the future of security and safety; and expand opportunities for thought leadership around integrated security, communications and emergency response. We also value SIA’s role in supporting critical initiatives such as school safety, public-sector security and critical infrastructure protection, which closely align with our mission and growth strategy.
