Letter of Concern over Provision in TSA Modernization Act, S 1872

In a letter on Nov. 8, 2017, SIA expressed concerns to leaders of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee over inclusion of a provision in the TSA Modernization Act, S 1872, now under consideration in the Senate.

The provision would allow non-biometric vetting for millions of new enrollees in the program without an FBI fingerprint background check, the gold standard for determining an individual’s criminal history.

SIA urges Senate leaders to reconsider the provision and look to alternative ways to boost participation in TSA PreCheck.
