Security Market Index: September 2019 Edition

Provided to Security Industry Association (SIA) members as a review of current market conditions, the September 2019 Security Market Index (SMI) shows that, as the seasons have changed from summer to fall, so have industry players' feelings in the state of the market. While the July SMI was a well-above-average 71, confidence seems to have taken a dip, with a September SMI of 59. Special focuses of SIA's September 2019 SMI include:
  • A continued decline in confidence in the video surveillance sector
  • A declining, although mostly positive, confidence among security systems integrators
  • Security consultants boasting the highest segment-specific SMI
  • Perspectives on the effects of the trade war
